Physical Therapy Technician Jobs in Minnesota: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a physical therapy technician in Minnesota?
Minnesota does not require a state license specifically for physical therapy technicians, so the hiring path runs through employer requirements rather than a licensing board. Most employers expect at minimum a high school diploma and completion of a formal PT technician or aide program, often available through Minnesota State community colleges. Gaining experience as a rehab or clinic aide first is the most common entry route, and CPR certification is expected from day one.
Which companies hire physical therapy technicians in Minnesota?
Minnesota physical therapy technician roles are posted by Aegis Therapies, Northwoods Rehab, and Adara Home Health and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Minnesota's large integrated health systems and independent outpatient orthopedic groups together account for the majority of openings across the state.
Which Minnesota cities have the most physical therapy technician jobs?
West Saint Paul, Edina, and Crosby have the most physical therapy technician openings in Minnesota right now. The Twin Cities metro drives the bulk of listings because of its concentration of major health systems, orthopedic specialty clinics, and sports medicine practices, while Rochester's volume reflects the scale of Mayo Clinic's rehabilitation services and the dense network of clinics that have grown around it.
Are there remote physical therapy technician jobs in Minnesota?
Yes, but they're rare. Physical therapy technician work is hands-on by nature, requiring direct patient contact in a clinic, hospital, or rehabilitation facility. About 0% of physical therapy technician openings tied to Minnesota are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those positions are almost exclusively administrative or scheduling support roles attached to PT departments rather than direct patient care.
How can I get hired as a physical therapy technician in Minnesota with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying directly to rehab aide or PT aide roles posted by large Minnesota health systems like Allina Health, M Health Fairview, or HealthPartners, which regularly hire candidates without prior clinical experience and provide on-the-job training. Minnesota State community colleges offer short-term PT technician certificate programs that signal seriousness to employers. Volunteering or working as a fitness center aide at a YMCA or sports facility in the Twin Cities is a common lateral move that gets candidates into consideration.
Where can I find and apply to physical therapy technician jobs in Minnesota?
You can find and apply to physical therapy technician jobs in Minnesota on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers hiring in the state right now. Search the listings, find the roles that match your experience and location, and apply directly to whichever ones fit.
