Physician Assistant Jobs in Rochester: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a physician assistant jobs in Rochester?
Rochester's largest hiring sectors are academic medicine, orthopedics, urgent care, and community health, so targeting those employer types first gives you the strongest foothold. The University of Rochester Medical Center ecosystem and the independent multispecialty groups along Mount Hope Avenue and East Avenue drive consistent demand. Candidates with inpatient or surgical assist experience tend to advance faster in Rochester's competitive hospital-affiliated market.
Which companies hire physician assistants in Rochester?
Companies currently hiring physician assistants in Rochester include Rochester Regional Health, Highland Hospital, and HiredFirst, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Rochester's employer mix leans heavily toward academic health systems and regional multispecialty groups, with a growing number of urgent care chains and independent private practices also posting regularly.
How can I get a physician assistant job in Rochester with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Rochester is a new-graduate or PA-C residency program, with the University of Rochester Medical Center operating structured post-graduate training in primary care and emergency medicine. Community health centers serving Rochester's urban neighborhoods also hire new graduates at a higher rate than private practices. Rotations completed locally during PA school noticeably improve callbacks from Rochester hiring managers.
