After gaining clinical experience, many nurses pursue the Certified Hospice and Palliative Nurse credential through the National Board for Certification of Hospice and Palliative Nurses to strengthen their candidacy with New York employers.
How much do hospice registered nurses make in New York?
Hospice registered nurses in New York earn a median of about $109,440 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $79,760 for the lowest 10% to over $157,090 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire hospice registered nurses in New York?
Employers hiring hospice registered nurses in New York right now include Northwell Health, Catholic Health, and Affirmed Home Care, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. New York's density of nonprofit hospice agencies, large hospital systems with dedicated palliative programs, and home health organizations means consistent demand across both the metro area and upstate regions.
Which New York cities have the most hospice registered nurse jobs?
The cities with the most hospice registered nurse openings in New York are Westbury, Farmingdale, and Albany. New York City drives the largest share of listings given the concentration of major health systems and home care agencies serving its dense population, while Buffalo and Albany reflect strong regional medical infrastructure and the presence of established hospice providers serving both urban and surrounding rural communities.
Are there remote hospice registered nurse jobs in New York?
Yes, but they're rare. Hospice nursing is fundamentally hands-on, with most roles requiring in-home patient visits or facility-based care. About 9% of hospice registered nurse openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those positions tend to involve telephonic triage, care coordination, or case management functions rather than direct bedside work.
How can I get hired as a hospice registered nurse in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a new-graduate residency or fellowship at a New York health system with a palliative care or home health division, such as those offered through Northwell Health or NewYork-Presbyterian. Lateral moves from med-surg, oncology, or home health aide roles are common stepping stones, and holding an active New York State RN license combined with completing a palliative care continuing education course gives candidates a meaningful edge with New York hospice recruiters.
