Certified Medical Assistant

What You’ll Do

· Answer phones, triage calls, schedule appointments, and communicate effectively with patients in person, on the phone, and in writing.

· Welcome patients, guide them through check-in, and support a seamless visit from start to finish.

· Prepare, sanitize, and stock exam rooms; maintain a clean and organized work environment.

· Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing general housekeeping tasks such as disinfecting surfaces, cleaning patient restrooms, removing trash, restocking supplies, and keeping all patient care areas organized and hazard-free.

· Assist providers during procedures and ensure proper care, handling, and maintenance of clinical equipment and surgical instruments.

· Label & Collect specimens, perform in-house tests (flu, strep, PT/INR, a1C, urinalysis), administer vaccines/injections to adults and children, and accurately record results.

· Take vitals, perform EKGs, PFTs, eye exams, apply holter monitors, and assist with minor procedures.

· Maintain accurate documentation in our EMR (eClinicalWorks preferred), including patient histories, lab results, and treatment plans.

· Process prescription refills, submit prior authorizations (PAs) for medications, and manage patient-related administrative tasks.

· Relay patient test results and provider instructions; generate patient lab orders accurately with correct coding.

· Process patient forms (DOT, FMLA, prior authorizations) and ensure providers have all required records for appointments.

· Work closely with front desk staff to coordinate patient care and scheduling, including triaging sick patients to ensure appropriate appointment placement.

· Monitor and manage vaccine inventory for NHIIS and VaxCare in compliance with state and federal programs.

The right candidate will be a quick learner, skilled troubleshooter, and strong communicator who thrives under pressure while maintaining professionalism and compassion.

· CMA, CCMA, or RMA certification preferred.

· 2+ years’ experience in a primary care setting strongly preferred.

· Proficiency with EMR systems (eClinicalWorks a plus).

· Exceptional verbal and written communication skills—clear, professional, and thorough.

· Ability to multitask, prioritize effectively, and remain composed in high-pressure situations.

· Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to learn new processes quickly.

· Team-oriented with a positive, can-do attitude and commitment to delivering excellent patient care.
