Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to join our dermatology practice. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional patient care and support clinical operations within a fast-paced outpatient setting. This role requires a strong foundation in medical procedures, excellent communication skills, and familiarity with dermatological treatments. Prior experience in hospital medicine, urgent care, or medical-surgical environments is highly valued. The Medical Assistant will play a vital role in ensuring smooth patient flow, accurate documentation, and effective support for physicians and staff.

Duties

• Assist with patient intake, including collecting medical histories and documenting chief complaints
• Measure and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rate
• Prepare patients for examinations and procedures, ensuring comfort and privacy
• Support physicians during dermatological treatments, including medication administration and minor procedures
• Operate EHR systems to document patient information accurately and efficiently
• Assist with ICD coding and documentation for billing purposes
• Provide patient education on skincare routines, medications, and post-treatment care
• Manage appointment scheduling and follow-up communications
• Support laboratory tasks such as specimen collection or X-ray coordination when applicable
• Maintain clinical supplies and ensure the cleanliness of treatment areas

Requirements

• Certification or experience as a Medical Assistant with knowledge of dermatology preferred
• Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to outpatient care
• Experience working in hospital medicine, urgent care, or Level I/II trauma centers is advantageous
• Knowledge of EHR systems and ICD coding processes
• Basic life support (BLS) certification required or obtainable upon hire
• Excellent patient service skills with a compassionate approach to care
• Ability to work efficiently in outpatient settings with fast-paced workflows
• Familiarity with medication administration procedures and basic emergency response protocols
• Prior clinic experience in dermatology or related specialties is highly desirable
