Your Responsibilities Summary
The Process Engineer is a key contributor to the Process Engineering team at thyssenkrupp Dynamic Components. Specifically, the Process Engineer is responsible for working both independently and cross-functionally on challenging and demanding projects for the development, design, installation, debug, startup and optimization of highly developed automated manufacturing equipment. This position is a pivotal position with the priority of successfully evaluating existing processes and configuring manufacturing systems to reduce cost, improve sustainability and develop best practices within the production process. This team is fully engaged in the implementation of highly automated, global technology.
Area of Focus
The Process Engineer (PCE) has progressive levels – PCE I, PCE II, PCE III, and PCE Team Lead. The levels receive associated progressive expectations. These expectations are formulated to give a general understanding of the tiered positions. They are not necessarily all-encompassing. Meeting these expectations and the educational/experiential requirements to follow do NOT guarantee the position, but are needed for consideration.
PCE II
- Ability to independently execute projects with minimal instruction. Support oneself fully incl. SAP, design, procurement, etc.
- Point of counsel for PCE I.
- Full understanding and compliance with PCE process and procedures.
- Proven full execution of significant projects with compliance to PCE processes and procedures.
- Proven ability to execute projects independently on multiple manufacturing disciplines.
- Considered process expert in one or more mfg discipline. Ability to support MFE in depth.
- Proven self-motivation to step out of PCE bounds supporting MFE / OPS.
Qualifications:
The Process Engineer has progressive levels, Process Engineer I, II, and III. The levels are linked to experience, track record, and expectations of ability. Additionally, the Process Engineer Team Lead option is possible as a supervisory succession track.
To perform this job successfully, a successful candidate will be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Language: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business documents, technical procedures, or governmental regulation; write reports, business correspondence, and procedures; effectively speak in public and present information and respond to questions from all levels of personnel throughout the organization and external groups. Ability to speak German is preferred.
- Technology: Microsoft Office, PTC Creo, AutoDesk AutoCAD
- Travel: Occasional travel, up to 5% including international, required.
- Education/Experience: PCE II – PCE I including approx. 4 years tk PCE engineering experience.
Your Profile
Key Deliverables:
- Perform responsibilities of a Process Owner. Is responsible for the definition (Plan), implementation (Do), measurement of the process effectiveness and efficiency (Check) and continual improvement of the process flow (Act).
- Develop and implement systems that optimize all phases of the production process. Improve process capability and production volume while maintaining and improving quality standards.
- Communicates on a regular basis within the department and company all information that impacts the business, department, or group.
- Project engineering/management of all project tasks of new projects, including creating and maintaining project logbooks, design reviews, progress control, pre/final acceptance with multiple suppliers and internal departments.
- Source, quote, evaluate, and select suppliers; install, debug, conduct, and manage pre/final acceptance protocols for new projects/products/equipment. Track and control project budgets and spending to ensure all projects are completed under the approved budget.
- Removes roadblocks in the implementation of new programs and systems in cooperation with the Manufacturing Departments.
- Work with equipment designers and manufacturing officers to develop a cost-effective and working production process.
- Defines and creates machine specifications and measuring definitions for defined or new processes.
- Request and review supplier offers. Support in negotiations with purchasing department.
- Define, plan, and organize equipment media connections, infrastructure requirements, tooling, and manpower requirements.
- Conduct process tests, gage R&R and Cgk studies, machine capability (Cp/Cpk) studies, and machine runoff tests where scrap, cycle time, downtime, failure modes, and conformance to the specifications is verified.
- Establish and maintain project schedules/timelines to meet customer milestones and supplier timing.
- Create and draw machine and process layouts and concepts.
- Provides support and guidance to departments and coordinates their support, interaction and service with the operational areas. Establish and lead/participate in regular project team meetings.
- Evaluate and improve processes in manufacturing systems.
- Maintains awareness of the evolving economic environment and makes recommendations for changes to the current processes or operations.
- Supports decision-making at all levels of the organization by providing information including reports, analysis, and financial direction in areas of process and technology improvement.
- Performs in a high performing, data driven culture that deploys lean enterprise techniques to target initiatives and drive continuous improvement in every function and aspect of the business.
- Maintains workflow by monitoring steps of the process; setting processing variables; observing control points and equipment; monitoring personnel and resources; studying methods; implementing cost reductions; developing reporting procedures and systems; facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process control points; initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.
