This Product Designer II role will help bring future products, experiences, and ideas to life through editing, cinematography, photography, motion design, sound, and visual storytelling. Editing and storytelling sit at the center of the role, with opportunities to contribute across the full production process—from early creative development and shooting through post-production and final delivery.
We’re looking for a versatile maker with compelling visual and storytelling instincts who is highly proactive, self-sufficient, and comfortable operating in ambiguity. This person should be able to assess what a project needs, solve creative and production challenges independently, and move from an early idea toward a finished piece without relying on highly prescriptive direction.
The ideal candidate can move comfortably between disciplines, take ownership of projects when needed, and collaborate effectively with teams across design, research, engineering, product development, and other creative disciplines.
Responsibilities
- Edit and craft compelling product films, sizzles, prototypes, narratives, presentations, and other visual content from concept through final delivery.
- Capture video and photography of products, people, prototypes, environments, and experiences using professional production tools and techniques.
- Develop motion graphics, compositing, titles, transitions, and visual treatments that strengthen the story and communicate ideas effectively.
- Translate scripts, storyboards, creative direction, and early concepts into polished visual narratives with thoughtful pacing, sound, and visual craft.
- Support or independently lead productions across planning, shooting, lighting, audio, editing, color, sound, and delivery as appropriate.
- Collaborate with designers, researchers, engineers, product teams, and creative partners while adapting quickly as product and creative direction evolve.
- Proactively identify creative and production needs, independently solve problems, create structure when the path is unclear, and drive projects forward without waiting for detailed direction.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 3+ years experience working in product or service design.
- OR equivalent experience (e.g., demonstrated experience working in product or service design or using design thinking to solve problems).
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s Degree in Film, Media Production, Design, Photography, or a related field.
- OR equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of professional experience in video editing, filmmaking, content production, motion design, or a related creative discipline.
- Experience using professional editing and post-production tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, DaVinci Resolve, or comparable software.
- Portfolio or reel demonstrating capabilities in editing, visual storytelling, cinematography, motion design, or production.
Experience working across multiple areas of production, including editing, cinematography, photography, lighting, audio, motion graphics, and post-production. - Demonstrated ability to work proactively and self-sufficiently, identify creative and production needs, and drive projects forward without highly prescriptive direction.
- Experience independently taking projects from early concept or raw footage through polished final delivery.
- Experience with CG animation, 3D workflows, rendering, compositing, or related visualization tools is a plus.

Product Designer Jobs in Washington: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a product designer in Washington?
Product design is not a licensed profession in Washington, so there is no state board, exam, or registration required to work in the role. Most employers hire candidates who hold a degree in interaction design, human-computer interaction, or a related field and can present a portfolio of shipped product work. Washington's large technology sector means hiring managers weigh demonstrable Figma proficiency and systems thinking experience heavily alongside formal education.
Which companies hire product designers in Washington?
Employers hiring product designers in Washington right now include Amazon, Amazon Web Services, and Microsoft, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Washington's concentration of enterprise software and consumer platform companies means product design teams here tend to work at significant scale, often within established design systems.
Which Washington cities have the most product designer jobs?
Seattle, Bellevue, and Redmond account for the most product designer openings in Washington. Seattle drives the largest share because of its density of consumer technology, cloud, and e-commerce companies, while Bellevue and Redmond reflect the footprint of large enterprise employers, particularly Microsoft, whose campus anchors the Eastside tech corridor.
Are there remote product designer jobs in Washington?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 52% of product designer openings tied to Washington are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how well suited screen-based design and collaboration tools are to distributed work. Research, prototyping, and design critique work transfers cleanly to remote settings, though some Washington employers prefer on-site presence for early-stage discovery and cross-functional alignment.
How can I get hired as a product designer in Washington with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is securing an associate or junior product designer role at a mid-size Seattle or Bellevue technology company that runs structured design mentorship programs. Amazon and Microsoft both operate university hire and rotational design programs for new graduates. Transitioning from adjacent roles like UX researcher, visual designer, or front-end developer is common and well-recognized by Washington hiring managers. A strong portfolio of self-initiated or internship projects, even speculative redesigns, carries more weight than credentials alone.
Where can I find and apply to product designer jobs in Washington?
You can find and apply to product designer jobs in Washington on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the listings, find roles that fit your background and location, and apply directly to the employers posting them.
