How do I get a project assistant job in New York?
Target the sectors where New York's project assistant hiring is densest: real estate and construction, financial services, advertising and media, and architecture and engineering firms. Midtown and Lower Manhattan hold the largest concentrations of openings, with growing activity in Hudson Yards and Long Island City. Candidates who can show proficiency with project management tools like Asana, Jira, or Microsoft Project and who have direct experience coordinating schedules, budgets, or vendor relationships move to the front of the line at New York firms.

New York's hiring mix is broad, ranging from global investment banks and real estate developers to advertising agencies, media conglomerates, and large healthcare systems with major campuses across the five boroughs.
Are there remote project assistant jobs in New York?
Yes, though availability depends heavily on the role type: project assistants in construction, facilities, and on-site production are almost always in person, while those supporting marketing, finance, or technology teams often have remote or hybrid options. About 26% of project assistant openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with the strongest remote share in media, tech, and corporate strategy roles.
How can I get a project assistant job in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in New York is targeting coordinator or administrative assistant roles at mid-size firms in real estate, media, or professional services, then moving laterally once you have scheduling and budget exposure. New York nonprofits, city agencies, and university operations departments frequently hire entry-level project support staff and provide structured mentorship. Familiarity with Google Workspace, basic Excel, and any project tracking tool gives candidates a measurable edge over other applicants with similar backgrounds.
