Project Development Manager Jobs in Houston: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a project development manager job in Houston?
Focus your search on Houston's Energy Corridor and Downtown, where oil and gas operators, EPC contractors, and infrastructure developers hire most actively. Candidates with experience managing capital projects in energy, petrochemical, or large-scale construction stand out. Familiarity with front-end development processes, feasibility studies, and stakeholder coordination in high-capital environments gives a strong edge over generalist applicants in this market.
Which companies hire project development managers in Houston?
Employers hiring project development managers in Houston right now include Ardurra, Fluor, and Harris County, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Houston's hiring pool is heavy with energy majors, midstream operators, large EPC firms, real estate developers, and industrial infrastructure companies, reflecting the city's concentration of capital-intensive project work.
Are there remote project development manager jobs in Houston?
Yes, but with limits, since project development managers in Houston often work closely with engineering teams, contractors, and site operations that require in-person coordination. About 9% of project development manager openings tied to Houston are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, with flexibility most common in planning, feasibility, and business development functions rather than construction-phase or field-facing roles.
How can I get a project development manager job in Houston with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Houston is through a project coordinator or project controls role at an EPC firm or energy operator, where you gain direct exposure to capital project workflows. Houston-based companies like major construction contractors and midstream developers regularly hire entry-level coordinators. Internships tied to University of Houston or Rice University engineering and business programs also open doors to project development career tracks locally.
Which industries hire the most project development managers in Houston?
Most project development manager openings in Houston sit in Consulting & Professional Services, Energy, and Construction & Real Estate, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Houston's role as a global energy hub and a major center for industrial construction, real estate development, and infrastructure investment drives concentrated demand for project development professionals across those sectors.
