Project Development Manager Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a project development manager in Texas?
Most project development managers in Texas start with a bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or construction management, then build experience through coordinator or analyst roles before moving into management. While Texas does not require a state license specifically for this title, many employers expect a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification through the Project Management Institute. In energy-heavy markets like Houston, familiarity with Texas utility and permitting frameworks gives candidates a clear edge.
How much do project development managers make in Texas?
Project development managers in Texas earn a median of about $98,440 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $57,460 for the lowest 10% to over $162,780 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire project development managers in Texas?
Employers hiring project development managers in Texas right now include Amazon, Burns & McDonnell, and Apple, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of energy majors, large engineering and construction firms, and growing technology campuses makes it one of the most active states for this role.
Which Texas cities have the most project development manager jobs?
Austin, Dallas, and Houston have the most project development manager openings in Texas. Houston dominates due to its dense energy, petrochemical, and infrastructure sector, while Dallas draws demand from corporate headquarters, commercial real estate, and technology firms, and Austin's rapid growth in semiconductors and tech campuses has steadily expanded hiring there as well.
Are there remote project development manager jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're limited. About 24% of project development manager openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting the fact that much of this work involves on-site coordination, stakeholder meetings, and direct oversight of physical projects. The portions of the role most compatible with remote work are planning, reporting, and vendor management tasks.
How can I get hired as a project development manager in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a project coordinator or development analyst role, which large Texas employers in energy and construction use as structured on-ramps. Companies like AECOM, Burns and McDonnell, and major Texas utility providers routinely hire new graduates into coordinator programs where they support senior managers directly. Earning a Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) credential before applying and building experience on any capital or infrastructure project strengthens your candidacy meaningfully.
Where can I find and apply to project development manager jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to project development manager jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings across energy, construction, technology, and commercial sectors. Search the listings by city or specialty, find the roles that fit your background, and apply directly to each one.
