Project Management Coordinator Jobs in Maine: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a project management coordinator in Maine?
Maine does not require a state-issued license to work as a project management coordinator, so the path centers on education and certification. Most Maine employers expect a bachelor's degree in business, management, or a related discipline. Earning a Certified Associate in Project Management from the Project Management Institute strengthens your application considerably and is frequently listed as preferred in Maine postings. Gaining experience through administrative or operations support roles at Maine hospitals, construction firms, or government contractors is the most direct route into a coordinator position.
Which companies hire project management coordinators in Maine?
Employers hiring project management coordinators in Maine right now include MaineHealth, Ryder System, and Central Maine Healthcare, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Maine's defense, healthcare, and construction sectors generate the most consistent coordinator demand, with large institutional employers tending to hire across multiple departments and project types.
Which Maine cities have the most project management coordinator jobs?
Augusta, Portland, and Lewiston account for the largest share of project management coordinator openings in Maine. Portland drives the most volume as the state's commercial and healthcare hub, with major health systems and construction activity anchoring demand, while Augusta and Bangor contribute openings through state government contracts, regional hospital networks, and infrastructure projects that require dedicated coordination support.
Are there remote project management coordinator jobs in Maine?
Yes, and more than many office-based roles, because project coordination work is documentation and communication-driven rather than physically hands-on. About 35% of project management coordinator openings tied to Maine are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting broader flexibility in the field. The portions of the role most amenable to remote work include scheduling, reporting, stakeholder communication, and document management, while on-site coordination is more common in construction and manufacturing contexts.
How can I get hired as a project management coordinator in Maine with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through administrative or operations support roles at Maine's large healthcare systems or construction firms, where coordinators are often promoted from scheduling coordinators, project administrators, or executive assistants. MaineHealth and Cianbro both have structured internal development pathways that move entry-level staff into project roles. Pursuing a CAPM certification before or alongside your job search gives you a concrete credential that compensates for limited field experience and is referenced frequently in Maine postings aimed at early-career candidates.
Where can I find and apply to project management coordinator jobs in Maine?
You can find and apply to project management coordinator jobs in Maine on Migrate Mate, which lists current Maine openings from employers actively hiring in the state. Search the listings, find roles that match your experience and target area, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
