Project Manager Jobs in Houston: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a project manager job in Houston?
Focus your search on Houston's dominant sectors: oil and gas, petrochemical engineering, large-scale construction, and healthcare systems. The Energy Corridor and Texas Medical Center are the two densest hiring zones. Candidates with PMP certification, EPC project experience, or healthcare IT backgrounds stand out in this market. Tailoring your resume to capital project delivery or clinical operations gives you a concrete edge over generalist applicants.
Which companies hire project managers in Houston?
Houston project manager roles are posted by TAS Energy, Audubon Companies, and HTS Engineering - Heat Transfer Solutions and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Houston's hiring base is unusually broad, stretching from global energy majors and engineering firms to hospital systems and logistics companies.
Are there remote project manager jobs in Houston?
Yes, though availability depends heavily on the industry. Project managers in oil and gas, construction, and medical facilities typically work on-site, while those in IT, consulting, and software delivery often have remote or hybrid options. About 40% of project manager openings tied to Houston are remote or hybrid as of September 2026. The most remote-friendly roles tend to cluster in technology implementation and business transformation projects.
How can I get a project manager job in Houston with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Houston is through a coordinator or scheduler role at an EPC firm or hospital system, where you support senior project managers on active projects. Houston's construction and energy sectors regularly hire project coordinators and document controllers as stepping stones. Pursuing a CAPM certification and gaining exposure to tools like Primavera P6 or MS Project signals readiness to local employers even without a full project management background.
Which industries hire the most project managers in Houston?
Most project manager openings in Houston sit in Manufacturing, Energy, and Technology & Software, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Houston's position as the U.S. energy capital and home to one of the world's largest medical complexes makes those two sectors particularly consistent sources of project management hiring year-round.
