INTRODUCTION
Children’s Specialty Group (CSG) and Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters (CHKD) is seeking a full time doctoral psychologist to work in the Department of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics in Newport News, VA. You will join our interdisciplinary team of developmental pediatricians, nurse practitioners, psychologists, social workers, educational consultants, and other support staff.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This position includes primary responsibility for independent administration, scoring, and interpretation of psychological testing for children and adolescents. The psychologist develops recommendations for treatment and links children to education and therapeutic services. Other duties include:
- Counseling families regarding assessment findings and referrals.
- Test administration based on an understanding of age, culture, and developmental level.
- Documenting patient care in the clinical record according to regulatory agency guidelines.
- Additional job duties may include supervision and training of non-licensed staff and collaborative work with pediatricians and community organizations.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
The candidate must possess a doctorate degree in clinical, developmental, or school psychology with a Virginia state license, or license eligible in Virginia. Your post-doctoral education must include training and experience in developmental evaluations.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 2 years post licensure experience
- One year of pediatric experience with children under the age of 6
- Recent experience in a pediatric setting
- Use of competency tests such as Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule Second Edition (ADOS-2) and cognitive measures including Wechsler assessments and Differential Ability Scales.
