We are seeking an Internal Communications Manager to lead strategic internal and executive communications initiatives across Progress Residential that help team members stay informed, connected and aligned to each company’s priorities, culture and business goals.
Reporting to the Director of Corporate Communications as part of the broader Brand, PR & Communications function, this role will own day-to-day execution and channel management across a variety of internal communications platforms and initiatives. The Internal Communications Manager will partner closely with teams across the organization to develop messaging and storytelling that informs, engages and supports employees through company initiatives, operational updates and organizational priorities.
This role is ideal for a highly organized and proactive communications professional who combines strong writing and storytelling skills with strategic thinking, operational execution and sound judgment in a fast-moving environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Internal & Executive Communications
- Develop and execute strategic internal and executive communications aligned to company priorities, business goals, Core Values and brand standards
- Draft and develop a variety of communications materials, including companywide emails, executive messaging, client communications, newsletters, presentations, announcements and leadership communications
- Tailor messaging for different audiences and communication channels to ensure clarity, consistency and engagement
- Support change communications and operational messaging initiatives as needed
Channel Ownership & Editorial Strategy
- Own day-to-day management and execution of internal communications channels, including intranet, newsletters, email communications, town halls and LinkedIn support
- Manage editorial planning and content calendars across internal communications channels
- Monitor communications performance metrics and audience feedback to identify trends and opportunities for optimization and continuous improvement
- Support content planning and amplification efforts across owned communications channels
Storytelling & Content Development
- Research and develop strategic, culture-driving stories that highlight company initiatives, operational priorities, employee experiences and leadership messaging
- Partner with teams across the organization to identify storytelling opportunities that support engagement and alignment
- Develop content for internal campaigns, meetings, presentations and employee engagement initiatives
- Support executive presentations and messaging development for company meetings and events
Cross-Functional Partnership & Communications Support
- Build strong partnerships with teams across People Operations, Operations, Brand, PR, IT and Leadership to support communications initiatives from concept through execution
- Coordinate communications support for company initiatives, operational updates and organizational changes
- Help align messaging across internal and external communications efforts as part of the broader corporate communications function
- Partner closely with creative, digital and communications team members to support integrated communications planning and execution
Communications Operations & Process Management
- Own day-to-day communications workflows, including communications intake and request management processes
- Maintain editorial calendars, communications planning tools and channel governance processes
- Support continuous improvement of internal communications processes, tools and reporting
- Help establish scalable communications practices and standards across the organization
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Business Administration or related field
- 5-10 years of experience in internal communications, corporate communications or executive communications roles
- Strong experience managing a variety of internal communications channels, including email communications, newsletters, meetings, intranet platforms and executive communications
- Excellent writing, editing and storytelling skills with the ability to tailor messaging for different audiences and stakeholders
- Strong executive communications experience with the ability to support leadership messaging and organizational priorities
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-moving environment
- Strong organizational, project management and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of projects from strategy through execution
- Experience analyzing communications metrics and using data and insights to improve engagement and effectiveness
- Comfortable learning and implementing new communications technologies and tools
