Public Relations Representative Jobs in Florida: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a public relations representative in Florida?
Florida does not require a state-issued license to work as a public relations representative, so the path runs through education and professional credentials. Most Florida employers expect a bachelor's degree in public relations, communications, or journalism. Many professionals pursue the Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) credential through the Public Relations Society of America, which has active Florida chapters in Miami, Tampa, and Orlando that host networking and mentorship programs for candidates entering the field.
Which companies hire public relations representatives in Florida?
Employers hiring public relations representatives in Florida right now include Alvarez & Marsal, Divine Savior Ministries, and Comcast, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Florida's large tourism operators, regional healthcare systems, and professional sports franchises are among the most consistent sources of PR hiring in the state.
Which Florida cities have the most public relations representative jobs?
Tampa, Miami, and Pensacola lead Florida for public relations representative openings. Miami's concentration of multinational corporations, luxury hospitality brands, and Latin American regional headquarters drives significant demand there, while Orlando's tourism and entertainment industry and Tampa's growing corporate headquarters scene sustain strong hiring in those metros.
Are there remote public relations representative jobs in Florida?
Yes, and more than many fields, since a significant portion of PR work involving writing, media outreach, and digital communications can be done remotely. About 33% of public relations representative openings tied to Florida are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting broader trends across the communications sector. Roles focused on media monitoring, content strategy, and social media management tend to be the most remote-friendly, while crisis communications and event-based PR positions typically require an on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a public relations representative in Florida with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a PR coordinator or communications assistant role at a Florida healthcare system, hospitality group, or regional nonprofit, where junior positions are designed to build foundational skills. Large Florida employers like AdventHealth and Visit Florida regularly bring on entry-level communications staff. Building a portfolio through internships with Florida PR agencies or university programs, and joining the Florida Public Relations Association as a student or new professional, gives candidates a measurable edge over applicants without local connections.
Where can I find and apply to public relations representative jobs in Florida?
You can find and apply to public relations representative jobs in Florida on Migrate Mate, which lists current Florida openings across industries and experience levels. Find roles that fit your background and apply directly to the employers posting them.
