Public Relations Representative Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a public relations representative in Texas?
There is no state-issued license or registration required to work as a public relations representative in Texas. Most employers require a bachelor's degree in public relations, communications, journalism, or a related field. Earning the Accredited in Public Relations credential through the Public Relations Society of America strengthens your profile, and Texas has active PRSA chapters in Dallas, Houston, and Austin that offer professional development and networking.
Which companies hire public relations representatives in Texas?
Employers hiring public relations representatives in Texas right now include Auctane, Topgolf, and Ferrovial, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Texas's mix of Fortune 500 headquarters, major university systems, and large hospital networks means demand comes from a wide range of industries beyond the typical agency environment.
Which Texas cities have the most public relations representative jobs?
Dallas, Austin, and Houston have the most public relations representative openings in Texas. Houston's concentration of energy majors and medical center institutions drives volume there, while Dallas attracts corporate communications roles from the large number of corporate headquarters in the Metroplex, and Austin's growing technology sector generates demand from both established firms and expanding companies.
Are there remote public relations representative jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than most fields, since public relations work is largely desk-based and communication-driven. About 20% of public relations representative openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the role's natural adaptability to distributed teams. Media monitoring, content development, and campaign coordination are the functions most commonly performed remotely.
How can I get hired as a public relations representative in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is an internship or communications coordinator role at a Texas agency or in-house communications department, which employers in Houston, Dallas, and Austin post regularly. Large institutions like the University of Texas system, Texas Children's Hospital, and major energy firms run entry-level communications programs that accept candidates without prior full-time experience. A portfolio of writing samples, even from student journalism, campus organizations, or volunteer work, gives you a concrete edge over applicants without one.
Where can I find and apply to public relations representative jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to public relations representative jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings. Find the roles that fit your experience and location, then apply directly to the employers posting them.
