Quality Assurance Manager Jobs in Iowa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a quality assurance manager in Iowa?
Most quality assurance managers in Iowa enter the role through a combination of a bachelor's degree in engineering, food science, chemistry, or a related field and several years of hands-on QA experience in manufacturing or a regulated industry. Iowa does not require a state-issued license for this role, but employers in food production and life sciences strongly value credentials such as the Certified Quality Manager from the American Society for Quality, which signals technical and leadership readiness.
How much do quality assurance managers make in Iowa?
Quality assurance managers in Iowa earn a median of about $106,510 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $74,830 for the lowest 10% to over $171,910 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire quality assurance managers in Iowa?
Companies currently hiring quality assurance managers in Iowa include Elanco, Bitco Insurance Companies, and Lineage, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Iowa's strong food manufacturing and agricultural processing base means many of these openings are tied to large production facilities operating under strict federal safety and quality standards.
Which Iowa cities have the most quality assurance manager jobs?
Davenport, Fort Dodge, and Cedar Rapids have the most quality assurance manager openings in Iowa. Des Moines anchors the market through its concentration of financial services, insurance operations, and regional headquarters, while Cedar Rapids and Davenport draw demand from food processing plants, biotech manufacturers, and logistics operations that require dedicated quality leadership on-site.
Are there remote quality assurance manager jobs in Iowa?
Yes, but they're limited. About 31% of quality assurance manager openings tied to Iowa are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the fact that many QA roles require direct oversight of production lines, lab environments, or physical audits. The portions of the role most likely to go remote are documentation review, supplier audit coordination, and compliance reporting.
How can I get hired as a quality assurance manager in Iowa with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a quality assurance manager role from a QA technician, quality inspector, or production supervisor position at one of Iowa's large food manufacturing or medical device employers. Companies such as major meat processing and agricultural processing operations regularly promote from within and offer structured advancement tracks. Earning an entry-level Certified Quality Technician credential from the American Society for Quality while building floor-level experience significantly strengthens a candidacy for a first management role.
