Quality Control Specialist Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a quality control specialist in Texas?
Most Texas employers require a high school diploma or associate degree in a technical field, with additional credit given for coursework in quality management or industrial technology. Texas does not issue a state license specifically for quality control specialists, but certifications from the American Society for Quality, such as the Certified Quality Inspector or Certified Quality Technician designation, are widely recognized by Texas hiring managers and often listed as preferred qualifications in job postings.
How much do quality control specialists make in Texas?
Quality control specialists in Texas earn a median of about $46,210 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $32,200 for the lowest 10% to over $78,560 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire quality control specialists in Texas?
Employers hiring quality control specialists in Texas right now include Houston Methodist, Kiewit Corporation, and Amazon, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of aerospace, energy, and food manufacturing operations means hiring tends to stay consistent across economic cycles, particularly in the Houston and Dallas-Fort Worth corridors.
Which Texas cities have the most quality control specialist jobs?
Houston, Austin, and San Antonio have the most quality control specialist openings in Texas. Houston leads because of its dense concentration of petrochemical, refining, and industrial manufacturing facilities along the Ship Channel, while Dallas-Fort Worth draws from aerospace, electronics, and distribution employers, and San Antonio contributes through its active automotive and defense manufacturing sectors.
Are there remote quality control specialist jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're rare. Quality control work is fundamentally hands-on and tied to physical production lines, so the large majority of Texas openings require on-site presence. About 7% of quality control specialist openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those positions tend to be documentation-heavy roles such as quality systems auditing, supplier compliance review, or regulatory reporting rather than direct inspection work.
How can I get hired as a quality control specialist in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for a quality control inspector or production associate role at a Texas manufacturing employer and building inspection experience from the floor up. Large Texas employers in food processing, aerospace, and industrial manufacturing, including operations in the Houston Ship Channel area and the DFW aerospace corridor, regularly bring on entry-level candidates with a technical high school background or community college coursework. Earning an American Society for Quality Certified Quality Inspector credential before applying gives candidates a measurable edge over others without direct experience.
Where can I find and apply to quality control specialist jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to quality control specialist jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings across industries including manufacturing, aerospace, energy, and food production. Find the roles that match your background and apply directly to each one.
