JOB POSITION SUMMARY
Konecranes Nuclear Equipment & Services (KNES): The Quality Control Technician will conduct physical inspections for quality related project requirements at KNES manufacturing sites, remote sites, and vendor sites. Perform receipt inspection of parts and items, verifying for compliance and preventing nonconforming material from being introduced to the value stream.
Responsibilities:
- Support all ISO, NQA-1 and 10 CFR 50 Appendix B components and projects as required by the base load of the other quality department personnel.
- Assist in the surveillance of commercial suppliers performing work on nuclear business unit components and services as directed by quality management.
- Complete 100%-dimensional inspections on all incoming vendor parts.
- Document ALL rejected parts using correct documentation.
- Investigate practices and procedures and perform internal quality system audit to determine quality standards and whether these standards are being met. Implement corrective action as required.
- Perform dimensional, electrical, or mechanical tests of materials, processes, assemblies, or sub-assemblies.
- Use a variety of precision measuring instruments and test equipment. This will include but not be limited to: Micrometers, Calipers, Bore Gauges, Hardness Gauge, Protractor and Radius Gauges, CMM – Romer portable arm.
- Work with KNES Engineering and vendors to correct defects or issues.
- Maintain clean and orderly work area including equipment and performs all assignments in a safe manner and in accordance with established procedures.
- Visual acuity to read directions and prints to ensure they meet standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:
- Ability to effectively handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and the ability to work effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision. Must be a self-starter.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, both mechanical and electrical.
- Self-directed and the ability to interact with supervisors, engineers, and customers effectively.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Strong teamwork and networking skills.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- 2+ years quality assurance or control experience preferred.
- Familiarity with Quality Assurance and Control processes in a regulated environment.
- Experience with heavy machinery or precision components is strongly preferred.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Physical ability to perform work requiring frequent stooping, bending. Ability to lift and carry 50lbs frequently.
- Approximately 40% travel required, primarily within the United States with occasional international travel.
