Quality Manager Jobs in Massachusetts: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a quality manager in Massachusetts?
The most direct path is a bachelor's degree in engineering, life sciences, or a related technical field combined with several years of quality assurance or quality control experience in Massachusetts's dominant industries. Massachusetts has no state-issued license specific to quality managers, but employers in regulated sectors strongly favor the American Society for Quality's Certified Quality Manager or Certified Quality Engineer credential, which requires passing a nationally administered exam and documenting relevant professional experience.
How much do quality managers make in Massachusetts?
Quality managers in Massachusetts earn a median of about $148,050 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $99,920 for the lowest 10% to over $227,080 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire quality managers in Massachusetts?
Employers hiring quality managers in Massachusetts right now include Raytheon, Vertex Pharmaceuticals, and Jobot, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Massachusetts's dense concentration of medical device, pharmaceutical, and aerospace firms means quality roles here tend to require familiarity with FDA or FAA regulatory environments alongside standard quality management system certifications.
Which Massachusetts cities have the most quality manager jobs?
Boston, Marlborough, and Andover have the most quality manager openings in Massachusetts right now. Boston's concentration of life sciences headquarters and hospital systems drives the most volume, while Marlborough and Lowell reflect the strong medical device and advanced manufacturing corridors that run along the Route 495 and Route 2 technology belts west and northwest of the city.
Are there remote quality manager jobs in Massachusetts?
Yes, but they're rare. Quality manager roles are fundamentally hands-on, requiring physical presence on production floors, in laboratories, or at supplier facilities to conduct audits and oversee processes. About 46% of quality manager openings tied to Massachusetts are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those positions tend to concentrate in supplier quality, quality systems documentation, and regulatory affairs functions that can be performed without daily on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a quality manager in Massachusetts with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is starting as a quality technician, quality inspector, or manufacturing associate at one of Massachusetts's large medical device or pharmaceutical manufacturers, which routinely hire at entry level and develop talent internally. Employers such as Boston Scientific and Raytheon Technologies operate formal rotational and associate programs that move early-career candidates into quality roles. Earning an ASQ Certified Quality Technician credential before applying signals commitment to the field and gives candidates a measurable edge over other applicants without direct management experience.
Where can I find and apply to quality manager jobs in Massachusetts?
You can find and apply to quality manager jobs in Massachusetts on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state's life sciences, medical device, aerospace, and manufacturing sectors. Search the listings for roles that match your experience level and specialty, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
