Tips for Your Regional Sales Representative Job Search
Tailor your resume to the vertical
A regional sales representative resume for a medical device company reads differently than one for a SaaS platform. Swap out industry terminology, reference relevant buyer personas, and lead with the experience that matches the employer's specific product category.
Target companies expanding into new markets
Companies opening new territories hire regional sales representatives before competitors do. Look for employers announcing new distribution agreements, product launches, or geographic expansion, since those roles often come with uncapped territory and faster advancement.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists regional sales representative openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Prepare a territory plan for interviews
Many employers ask candidates to present a 30-60-90 day territory plan as part of the interview. Research the company's current accounts, map their whitespace by region, and walk through how you'd prioritize prospecting in the first quarter.
Negotiate total compensation, not just base pay
Regional sales offers often include variable commission structures, car allowances, and expense accounts that differ widely by employer. Clarify on-target earnings, commission caps, ramp periods, and territory carve-out policies before accepting any offer.
Regional Sales Representative Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most regional sales representatives?
The companies hiring the most regional sales representatives right now include Suburban Propane, AGCO Corporation, and Trillium Flow Technologies, with the largest share of openings in Massachusetts, California, and Florida, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Hiring tends to be heaviest in sectors like medical devices, industrial distribution, and technology solutions.
How many regional sales representative jobs are remote?
About 25% of regional sales representative openings are fully remote or hybrid as of June 2026, though most roles still require regular in-territory travel to meet clients and prospects. Inside sales and channel partner management sub-specializations tend to carry the highest share of fully remote arrangements.
How do you become a regional sales representative?
Most regional sales representatives start in inside sales, account coordination, or sales development roles to build prospecting and closing skills. From there, moving into a territory-based role requires demonstrating consistent quota attainment. Earning certifications in solution selling or CRM platforms and building product knowledge in a specific vertical strengthens your candidacy for regional roles with larger territories.
Can you get hired as a regional sales representative with little experience?
Yes, some employers hire candidates with limited experience into junior or associate regional sales roles, particularly in industries with structured training programs like insurance, financial services, and consumer goods. Highlighting any customer-facing experience, a history of meeting goals in any field, and familiarity with the employer's product category can offset a shorter sales resume.
What does the regional sales representative interview process look like?
Most employers start with a recruiter or hiring manager phone screen focused on your sales background and territory experience. This is typically followed by one or two rounds with sales leadership, often including a mock pitch, a territory planning exercise, or a panel presentation. Final-stage interviews sometimes involve meeting regional team members or completing a written business case.
Where can I find and apply to regional sales representative jobs?
You can find and apply to regional sales representative jobs on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from across the United States. Search the listings to find roles that match your industry background and territory experience, then apply directly to each opening that fits.
