The role blends three accountabilities:

- Regional leadership (people, planning, standards, escalations)
- Commercial ownership (recurring revenue retention + new revenue growth)
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
1) Technical service delivery (hands-on)

- Execute preventive maintenance, upgrades, and corrective actions per service SOPs and quality requirements.
- Maintain trunk stock, tools, and test equipment; ensure readiness and compliance.

2) Regional leadership
- Own the region’s service execution: coverage model, routing discipline, scheduling efficiency, and service readiness.
- Serve as primary escalation owner for complex technical issues and customer escalations; drive structured resolution and closed-loop communication.
- Establish and uphold regional standards for:
- Service quality and documentation
- Customer communications and professionalism
- Tools, trunk stock, and process compliance
- Recruit, onboard, coach, and develop field talent in the region as headcount scales:
- Interviewing, selection, ramp plans, field accompaniment, skills assessments
- Ongoing coaching cadence and performance management where required
- Coordinate with Service Operations on technician scheduling, time off coverage, and territory continuity.
3) Commercial ownership (growth + retention)
- Own customer relationships—especially key sites—building executive trust with clinical, biomedical, and administrative stakeholders.
- Drive recurring revenue retention and expansion:
- Service contract renewals support (in partnership with Sales/Inside Sales)
- Calibration program adoption and multi-year calibration conversions

- Joint account planning and site strategy
- Lead identification from service interactions (needs discovery, quoting triggers)
- Support commercial conversations with technical credibility (scope, timelines, risk)
- Provide regional forecasting inputs (pipeline signals, renewals risk, service demand drivers) and communicate trends to the Service Director.
4) Continuous improvement & quality partnership
- Identify recurring failure modes and systemic issues; translate field observations into structured feedback for Quality, Product, and Operations.
- Participate in CAPA / complaint processes as needed; ensure regional adherence to quality system procedures.
- Improve regional performance through simple operating mechanisms: dashboards, weekly priorities, and measurable action plans.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years experience in field service / technical service for medical devices, diagnostics instrumentation, or comparable regulated equipment (installation + calibration + repair).
- Demonstrated capability in bench-level and field-level troubleshooting (analog/digital electronics, electromechanical systems).
- Strong comfort with Windows/PC-based systems; working knowledge of drivers, software installs, logs, and basic networking fundamentals.
- Proven customer-facing maturity: calm under pressure, clear communicator, strong expectation-setting.
- Demonstrated leadership behaviors (formal people management or clear “lead tech / team lead” ownership), including coaching and escalation handling.
- Commercial instincts: able to identify opportunities, protect recurring revenue, and partner effectively with Sales.
- Valid driver’s license; ability to travel frequently and occasionally on short notice.
Education: Technical diploma/associate degree (Electronics, Biomedical Equipment Technology, Engineering Technology) or equivalent hands-on experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with audiology / hearing & balance diagnostics, neonatal/newborn care environments, or sensor-based diagnostic systems.

Regional Service Manager Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a regional service manager in California?
Most regional service managers in California move into the role after several years in field service, technical support, or operations, then step into a supervisory position before advancing to regional scope. California does not require a state-issued license specific to this title, but employers in regulated industries such as HVAC, elevators, or electrical systems expect candidates to hold relevant trade certifications recognized in California. A bachelor's degree in engineering, operations management, or business strengthens candidacy significantly.
Which companies hire regional service managers in California?
Employers hiring regional service managers in California right now include Desert Regional Medical Center, Louis Vuitton, and MidPen Housing Corporation, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. California's size and industry diversity mean these roles appear across sectors from life sciences and building systems to enterprise technology and industrial equipment.
Which California cities have the most regional service manager jobs?
San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Palm Springs account for the largest share of regional service manager openings in California. Los Angeles drives volume through its concentration of commercial real estate, healthcare systems, and large enterprise clients, while San Francisco and San Diego pull in demand from technology companies and life sciences employers that require dedicated regional service leadership for their California operations.
Are there remote regional service manager jobs in California?
Yes, but they're rare. Regional service managers typically oversee field technicians and on-site service delivery, which requires regular in-person presence across a territory. About 7% of regional service manager openings tied to California are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those positions tend to concentrate the remote flexibility in administrative, reporting, and customer escalation responsibilities rather than day-to-day field oversight.
How can I get hired as a regional service manager in California with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a field service technician or service coordinator role at a large California employer, then building toward a team lead or supervisor position. Companies like Siemens, Johnson Controls, and ABB run structured development programs in California that move high-performing field staff into management tracks. Holding a relevant California-recognized trade certification, such as a HVAC contractor license or a biomedical equipment certification, gives candidates a concrete edge when competing for that first supervisory step.
Where can I find and apply to regional service manager jobs in California?
You can find and apply to regional service manager jobs in California on Migrate Mate, which lists current California openings updated regularly. Search the listings, find roles that fit your experience and preferred location within California, and apply directly to the employers posting them.
