Registered Dental Assistant Jobs in Minnesota: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a registered dental assistant in Minnesota?
Minnesota requires dental assistants who perform certain procedures, including exposing radiographs or performing coronal polishing, to register with the Minnesota Board of Dentistry. Candidates must complete a Board-approved dental assisting program and pass the required competency evaluations. Some expanded functions require additional Board-approved training beyond the core credential. Completing an accredited program at a Minnesota technical college or community college is the most direct path to meeting registration requirements.
Which companies hire registered dental assistants in Minnesota?
Employers hiring registered dental assistants in Minnesota right now include Premier Dentist Partners, Clear Lakes Dental, and Main Street Dental Clinics, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Minnesota's large multi-location dental groups and integrated health systems tend to post the most consistently, making them reliable sources of full-time openings throughout the year.
Which Minnesota cities have the most registered dental assistant jobs?
The cities with the most registered dental assistant openings in Minnesota are Saint Louis Park, Winona, and Mankato. The Twin Cities metro drives the largest share of postings due to its concentration of multi-site dental groups, orthodontic chains, and health system-affiliated clinics, while Rochester benefits from the strong healthcare employment base anchored by major medical institutions in that city.
Are there remote registered dental assistant jobs in Minnesota?
Yes, but they're rare. Registered dental assisting is a hands-on clinical role that requires direct patient contact, so the vast majority of positions are fully on-site. About 0% of registered dental assistant openings tied to Minnesota are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those exceptions typically involve administrative, care coordination, or dental insurance review functions rather than direct chairside work.
How can I get hired as a registered dental assistant in Minnesota with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is completing a Minnesota Board of Dentistry-approved dental assisting program at a technical college such as Dakota County Technical College or Hennepin Technical College and applying to multi-location dental groups like Park Dental, which regularly bring on new graduates. Entry-level openings are also common at Federally Qualified Health Centers and community dental clinics across the Twin Cities. Candidates who have worked as dental receptionists or sterilization technicians often make lateral moves into assisting roles while completing their registration requirements.
Where can I find and apply to registered dental assistant jobs in Minnesota?
You can find and apply to registered dental assistant jobs in Minnesota on Migrate Mate, which lists current Minnesota openings from dental practices, health systems, and specialty clinics across the state.
