Candidates must also complete an accredited supervised practice program or dietetic internship before sitting for the exam. Once licensed, you renew every two years and must complete continuing education.

Which companies hire registered dietitians in New Jersey?
Employers hiring registered dietitians in New Jersey right now include NutraCo, RD NUTRITION CONSULTANTS, and Medical Nutrition Therapy Associates, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. New Jersey's dense network of large hospital systems, academic medical centers, and long-term care chains means consistent openings exist across both inpatient and outpatient settings throughout the state.
Which New Jersey cities have the most registered dietitian jobs?
The cities with the most registered dietitian openings in New Jersey are Newark, Camden, and Freehold. This distribution reflects the concentration of major hospital campuses, academic medical centers, and long-term care facilities in northern and central New Jersey, where anchor health systems like RWJBarnabas Health and Hackensack Meridian Health drive the bulk of clinical hiring.
Are there remote registered dietitian jobs in New Jersey?
Yes, but they're relatively limited compared to desk-based fields, since most registered dietitian roles involve direct patient assessment and hands-on clinical work. About 57% of registered dietitian openings tied to New Jersey are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and the positions most likely to offer flexibility are telehealth nutrition counseling and corporate wellness consulting roles that don't require bedside or facility presence.
How can I get hired as a registered dietitian in New Jersey with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for dietetic internship programs or new-graduate clinical rotations at large New Jersey health systems such as RWJBarnabas Health or Hackensack Meridian Health, which regularly bring on entry-level registered dietitians for inpatient units. Lateral entry from roles such as diet technician, nutrition aide, or food service supervisor is also common and gives candidates relevant facility experience. Holding an active New Jersey license and completing a Commission on Dietetic Registration-approved internship before applying gives candidates a clear edge over those still in the credentialing process.
