About SGI Logistics
SGI Logistics is a locally owned transportation and logistics company headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama. We provide courier, routed distribution, warehousing, and specialized logistics solutions throughout the Southeast. Our customers range from small local businesses to healthcare organizations and regional companies that depend on us every day.
Our team has grown to more than 50 employees, but we've worked hard to maintain a collaborative, family-oriented culture where every team member plays an important role in our success.
About the Role
We're looking for an energetic, customer-focused Logistics Coordinator to join our operations team.
This is not a traditional dispatcher position. We're not simply looking for someone to assign deliveries to drivers all day. We're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys helping people, communicating with customers, and solving problems in a fast-moving environment.
You will serve as the communication hub between customers, drivers, and internal team members to ensure deliveries are completed accurately and on time.
This is a high-energy role where priorities change throughout the day. The ideal person thrives in a busy environment, stays calm under pressure, and enjoys keeping multiple moving pieces organized.
No previous logistics experience is required. We can teach logistics. We're primarily looking for someone with excellent customer service skills, strong communication abilities, and a positive attitude.
What You'll Do
- Serve as a primary point of contact for customers and drivers throughout the day
- Answer inbound calls and proactively communicate updates, changes, and delays
- Dispatch orders and coordinate drivers to ensure successful pickups and deliveries
- Monitor deliveries and assist drivers when unexpected issues arise
- Troubleshoot problems and develop solutions in real time
- Build strong relationships with customers through responsive, professional communication
- Enter and manage customer requests in multiple software platforms
- Modify recurring customer requests as needed
- Collaborate with fellow dispatchers and operations leadership to improve processes and prevent repeat issues
- Work across departments to deliver an exceptional customer experience
Who Succeeds Here
The people who thrive in this role are:
- Excellent communicators who enjoy talking with people throughout the day
- Calm and professional under pressure
- Organized and detail-oriented
- Strong multitaskers who can manage competing priorities
- Team players who enjoy helping others succeed
- Problem solvers who take ownership when challenges arise
- Positive, dependable, and adaptable
Qualifications
- Previous customer service experience strongly preferred
- Bachelor's degree preferred, but not required
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Professional phone etiquette
- Comfortable learning new software systems
Software You'll Use
- Microsoft Outlook
- Microsoft Excel
- Dispatch and transportation management software
- Driver tracking and communication tools
- Various internal platforms
Additional Information
- One weekend per month of on-call responsibility (work from home)
- Team members receive the following Monday off after their on-call weekend
- You'll join a team of four dispatchers who work closely together each day
If you enjoy helping people, solving problems, staying busy, and working in an environment where every day is different, we'd love to hear from you.

Tips for Your Remote Logistics Coordinator Job Search
Quantify your coordination wins on resumes
Logistics resumes get cut when they list duties instead of outcomes. Replace phrases like 'managed shipments' with specifics: orders processed per day, error rates reduced, or on-time delivery rates improved. Recruiters in this field respond to numbers.
Highlight your TMS and WMS experience
Many logistics coordinator postings filter candidates by familiarity with specific platforms like SAP, Oracle, or ShipBob. Name every transportation and warehouse management system you've used in a dedicated skills section so automated screeners don't pass you over.
Target postings that match your freight mode
Logistics coordinator roles vary heavily by freight type: LTL, FTL, ocean, air, or last-mile delivery. Read each posting carefully and apply to roles where your freight experience aligns, since interviewers will probe your mode-specific knowledge quickly.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists logistics coordinator openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Prepare for carrier and vendor scenario questions
Interviewers routinely ask how you'd handle a carrier cancellation or delayed customs clearance. Walk through your decision process out loud, naming the stakeholders you'd contact and how you'd document the resolution to show operational maturity.
Negotiate using shift and on-call expectations
Logistics coordinator roles often include weekend coverage or 24-hour carrier escalation duties that aren't in the job title. Confirm on-call expectations before accepting an offer, and factor that into your compensation discussion so there are no surprises after you start.
Remote Logistics Coordinator Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a remote logistics coordinator job?
Target companies that already run distributed teams, since they hire remotely by default and know how to onboard someone they never meet in person. Remote logistics coordinator employers screen hard for self-direction and clear written communication on top of the core skills, so show evidence you can own work without someone over your shoulder. Apply to the openings above that match your experience.
Which companies hire remote logistics coordinators?
Remote logistics coordinator roles are posted by Obsidian Security, ZS Associates, and ONENERGY and others right now, based on current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Remote-first firms and large companies running distributed teams post the most remote logistics coordinator roles.
Can you get a remote logistics coordinator job with no experience?
Yes, but it is harder than an on-site role, because remote work expects you to operate independently from the start. Entry-level remote logistics coordinator openings do exist, especially at remote-first companies, and a portfolio of real work helps more than a long resume. Applying broadly to the roles that fit improves your odds.
Do you need a degree for remote logistics coordinator jobs?
Not always. Many employers hire remote logistics coordinators on demonstrated skills and prior work rather than a specific degree, though some larger companies still prefer one. Showing relevant results matters more than a credential for most remote logistics coordinator roles.
Which industries hire the most remote logistics coordinators?
The sectors hiring the most remote logistics coordinators are Technology & Software, Consulting & Professional Services, and Biotechnology & Pharmaceuticals, based on current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. These sectors run distributed teams and hire logistics coordinators remotely most consistently.
