INTRODUCTION
Moffatt & Nichol specializes in large complex waterfront infrastructure projects and is recognized as one of the worldwide leaders in this field. We are actively looking for a Roadway Engineer to join our Richmond office. As part of the Transportation Group, the Roadway Engineer will be a member of an integrated design team, and will be responsible for developing project designs, plans, quantities, cost estimates and specifications while working directly under licensed Engineers. Projects will include DOT highway design, county/city roadway improvements, bike paths, pedestrian walkways, heavy rail and other transportation related projects. Position will also be part of national workshare and may have the opportunity to work on projects outside the local/state markets.

Duties and responsibilities:

- Learn and apply established principles and practices of civil engineering
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the performance of duties and to work as a team
- Design and preparation of documents for:
- Minor and major roadway
- Sidewalks
- Shoulder improvements
- Drainage design projects
- Duties include assisting a project manager with tasks associated with:
- Plan preparation
- Cost estimates
- Report writing
- Client coordination
- Permitting

Qualifications
- Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering required
- 2-5 years of experience working with an engineering consulting firm; required
- Experience in transportation roadway design; required
- Experience working with State DOT projects is a Plus
- Software experience: required
- Working with Microstation
- Autocad and other additional cad platforms
- Civil 3D
- Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation)
- All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171
