Safety Manager Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a safety manager in Texas?
Texas does not require a state-issued license to work as a safety manager, but employers strongly prefer candidates who hold the Board of Certified Safety Professionals' Certified Safety Professional designation, known as the CSP. Most paths begin with a bachelor's degree in occupational safety, industrial hygiene, or engineering, followed by field experience in a Texas industry such as oil and gas or construction. Earning the CSP demonstrates the national standard that Texas employers consistently reference in job postings.
How much do safety managers make in Texas?
Safety managers in Texas earn a median of about $79,660 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $46,380 for the lowest 10% to over $126,500 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire safety managers in Texas?
Employers hiring safety managers in Texas right now include Amazon, FirstService Residential, and Dennis, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of petrochemical plants along the Gulf Coast, major construction contractors in Dallas-Fort Worth, and large manufacturers statewide means hiring activity is spread across a wide range of industries rather than concentrated in a single sector.
Which Texas cities have the most safety manager jobs?
Austin, Dallas, and Houston have the most safety manager openings in Texas. Houston dominates because of its dense cluster of refineries, petrochemical facilities, and offshore energy contractors along the Gulf Coast, while Dallas-Fort Worth draws volume from large construction projects, logistics operations, and corporate headquarters, and San Antonio supports steady demand through its military installations, healthcare systems, and growing manufacturing base.
Are there remote safety manager jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're rare. Safety managers are primarily responsible for on-site inspections, hazard assessments, and in-person worker training, which means most roles require a physical presence. About 4% of safety manager openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those positions tend to be concentrated in corporate EHS program management, regulatory compliance analysis, and safety documentation roles rather than field-level positions.
How can I get hired as a safety manager in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is starting as a safety coordinator or EHS technician at a Texas construction contractor, refinery, or manufacturing facility where large employers routinely bring in candidates without full management experience. Companies like Turner Construction and Dow Chemical operate Texas sites that post associate-level safety roles, and earning an OSHA 30-hour certification before applying signals seriousness. Moving laterally from a quality control technician, field supervisor, or industrial hygiene assistant role is a common way in, and pursuing the Associate Safety Professional credential from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals gives early-career candidates a recognized credential that Texas employers recognize.
Where can I find and apply to safety manager jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to safety manager jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings. Find roles that fit your experience and location, then apply directly to the employer through the listing.
