INTRODUCTION
The Safety Manager I is a key field-based role responsible for supporting site teams and ensuring compliance with all applicable health and safety regulations. This position promotes proactive safety culture and leads by example to drive continuous safety improvement on solar construction sites.

Key Responsibilities:

Serve as a visible safety leader with an active field presence (approximately 85% of the workday).

Build strong relationships across the workforce to reinforce safety policies, regulations, and practices.

Support training initiatives and provide on-the-spot coaching to address at-risk behaviors or noncompliance.

Lead or participate in weekly safety committee meetings.

Conduct routine safety observations and audits to identify potential hazards, error precursors, and improvement opportunities.

Document findings using EHS Insight and effectively communicate safety performance to site leadership.

Deliver safety training sessions as assigned to ensure alignment with company EHS programs.

Investigate all work-related incidents, near misses, and good catches; complete detailed reports and root cause analyses.

Ensure follow-up on corrective and preventive actions to reduce future risks.

Recommend enhancements to safety processes, procedures, and jobsite conditions.
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
-
Minimum of five (5) years of Health and Safety Construction experience. Solar experience is a plus.

Familiarity with local, state, and federal codes related to solar construction.

Proven ability to assess health and safety risks and implement corrective actions.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS

Current OSHA 500 preferred

High school diploma or equivalent (required)

Valid Driver’s License (required)

Current First Aid/CPR certification (required)
SKILLS/ABILITIES

Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to effectively interact across all organizational levels and cultures.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software (e.g., EHS Insight).

High degree of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality.
-
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends when required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Ability to walk job sites and perform field inspections in varying environmental conditions (heat, cold, wind, precipitation).

Frequent exposure to elevated noise levels (may exceed 85 dB).
-
Able to lift up to 35 lbs.
-
Regular bending, stooping, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
-
Must have 20/20 vision (corrected or uncorrected) to safely observe jobsite conditions.
