Sales Manager Jobs in San Diego: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a sales manager job in San Diego?
Focus your search on San Diego's strongest hiring sectors: biotech and life sciences firms clustered in Sorrento Valley and Torrey Pines, defense and cybersecurity contractors in Kearny Mesa, and SaaS companies around UTC. Candidates who come in with territory management experience, existing relationships in one of these verticals, and familiarity with longer B2B sales cycles tend to stand out over generalist applicants in this market.
Which companies hire sales managers in San Diego?
Employers hiring sales managers in San Diego right now include Hyatt, Agile IT, and AutoZone, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of November 2026. The local market features a strong mix of large life sciences companies, mid-size defense contractors, and growth-stage SaaS businesses, many of which maintain dedicated sales teams in San Diego rather than routing hires through out-of-state headquarters.
Are there remote sales manager jobs in San Diego?
Yes, though it depends on the role: sales manager positions focused on inside sales, account strategy, or team leadership often allow remote or hybrid arrangements, while roles tied to field sales, lab equipment, or on-site client management tend to require in-person presence. About 55% of sales manager openings tied to San Diego are remote or hybrid as of November 2026. SaaS and technology-sector roles in the UTC and Sorrento Valley corridors account for most of the remote-eligible listings.
How can I get a sales manager job in San Diego with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in San Diego is moving up from a senior account executive or team lead role within the biotech, defense tech, or SaaS sectors that dominate local hiring. Mid-size life sciences companies and cybersecurity firms in Kearny Mesa frequently promote high-performing individual contributors into first-line manager roles. Building familiarity with the local vertical, whether through an industry association, a San Diego-based startup, or a contract sales role, gives candidates a clear edge over applicants without local market exposure.
