Sales Manager Jobs in San Francisco: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a sales manager job in San Francisco?
The strongest path is targeting San Francisco's deep bench of enterprise software, fintech, and cloud infrastructure companies, which hire sales managers at a higher rate than most U.S. cities. Candidates who come in with a book of business in SaaS, payments, or cybersecurity stand out. Networking in SoMa and the Financial District, where most tech and finance sales teams are based, moves faster than cold applications alone.
Which companies hire sales managers in San Francisco?
San Francisco sales manager roles are posted by Box, DocuSign, and Visa and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. The city draws a mix of publicly traded tech firms, high-growth Series B and C startups, and established financial institutions, all of which build dedicated sales management layers as they scale.
Are there remote sales manager jobs in San Francisco?
Yes, though remote availability depends heavily on the role: field and territory sales managers are almost always on-site, while inside sales and national account managers can often work remotely. About 80% of sales manager openings tied to San Francisco are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, skewing toward companies in enterprise SaaS and cloud services where the entire sales motion runs digitally.
How can I get a sales manager job in San Francisco with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving up from a senior individual contributor role, such as an account executive or team lead, at a San Francisco startup that promotes internally. Companies in the Mission Bay biotech corridor and SoMa startup ecosystem frequently promote from within rather than hire externally for their first-line manager roles. Demonstrating quota attainment and a short history of informal mentorship on your current team is the credential that opens those conversations.
Which industries hire the most sales managers in San Francisco?
The sectors hiring the most sales managers in San Francisco are Technology & Software, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. San Francisco's concentration of venture-backed technology companies and global financial institutions creates sustained, year-round demand for sales leadership that outpaces most comparable metro markets.
