Sales Representative Jobs in Richmond: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a sales representative job in Richmond?
Focus your search on Richmond's strongest hiring sectors: financial services firms along downtown's Main Street corridor, regional healthcare systems in the Fan District and Shockoe Bottom, and the growing technology companies anchored in Scott's Addition and the Greater Short Pump area. Candidates who know Richmond's mid-market commercial landscape and can demonstrate territory management experience in the Mid-Atlantic region consistently stand out to local hiring managers.
Which companies hire sales representatives in Richmond?
Employers hiring sales representatives in Richmond right now include Commonwealth Vector Control, Coesia, and Gexpro, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Richmond's market includes a mix of regional insurance carriers, healthcare technology firms, and distribution companies that maintain dedicated local sales teams serving the broader Mid-Atlantic territory.
Are there remote sales representative jobs in Richmond?
Yes, though availability depends heavily on the role, since outside sales and territory-based positions typically require in-person client contact while inside sales and account management roles are more remote-compatible. About 24% of sales representative openings tied to Richmond are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with hybrid arrangements most common among software and financial services employers headquartered downtown or in the West End.
How can I get a sales representative job in Richmond with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Richmond is through inside sales or sales development representative roles at the city's insurance carriers, SaaS companies in Scott's Addition, and regional medical device distributors, all of which run structured onboarding programs for new graduates. Lateral moves from customer service or retail roles at Richmond-area employers also open doors quickly, and familiarity with the local commercial real estate and healthcare provider landscape gives newer candidates a genuine edge in interviews.
Which industries hire the most sales representatives in Richmond?
Most sales representative openings in Richmond sit in Retail, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Richmond's status as a regional headquarters hub for insurance, banking, and health systems drives consistent demand across all three sectors, with technology sales growing steadily alongside the city's expanding startup and mid-market tech community.
