A bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or engineering is the standard educational baseline. Building experience through account management or solution sales roles at Virginia-based defense contractors or technology firms is the most direct path to senior strategic sales positions in the state.
How much do strategic sales executives make in Virginia?
Strategic sales executives in Virginia earn a median of about $191,130 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $94,710 for the lowest 10% to over $302,900 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire strategic sales executives in Virginia?
Employers hiring strategic sales executives in Virginia right now include Amazon Web Services, ID.me, and Red Hat, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Virginia's heavy concentration of defense contractors and federal IT firms means many of these openings focus on government-facing enterprise sales.
Which Virginia cities have the most strategic sales executive jobs?
McLean, Herndon, and Arlington have the most strategic sales executive openings in Virginia. Northern Virginia dominates because of its dense cluster of defense contractors, cybersecurity firms, and federal agency headquarters, while Richmond and Hampton Roads contribute through their concentration of financial services companies, healthcare systems, and regional technology employers.

Yes, and more than many fields. About 100% of strategic sales executive openings tied to Virginia are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the desk-based, relationship-driven nature of the role.
