Security Product Manager Jobs in Hawaii: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a security product manager in Hawaii?
The most direct path is a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or cybersecurity combined with hands-on experience in either product management or information security. Hawaii's market is heavily shaped by federal defense contracting, so obtaining or maintaining a DoD security clearance is a practical requirement at most employers. Certifications such as CISSP or Certified Scrum Product Owner strengthen candidacy. No state-issued license applies to this role in Hawaii.
Which companies hire security product managers in Hawaii?
Hawaii security product manager roles are posted by Booz Allen Hamilton, Bank of Hawaii, and Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hawaii's concentration of federal defense agencies and Indo-Pacific command infrastructure makes large government contractors among the most consistent hirers on the island.
Which Hawaii cities have the most security product manager jobs?
Honolulu, Ford Island, and Kauai account for the majority of security product manager openings in Hawaii. Honolulu drives the bulk of demand as the state's primary commercial and government hub, while Pearl City and Kapolei benefit from proximity to federal installations including Pearl Harbor and the defense contractor campuses that support Indo-Pacific Command operations.
Are there remote security product manager jobs in Hawaii?
Yes, and they are more common than in many technical roles because security product management is primarily an analytical and strategic function. About 0% of security product manager openings tied to Hawaii are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, though roles requiring active security clearances or classified system access typically require on-site presence. Strategy, roadmap, and stakeholder coordination work is most likely to be offered remotely.
How can I get hired as a security product manager in Hawaii with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving laterally from a related role such as cybersecurity analyst, IT project coordinator, or systems engineer at one of Hawaii's major defense contractors or at the state's Department of Defense facilities. Employers like Booz Allen Hamilton and Leidos regularly bring in early-career professionals through associate or rotational programs. Building a portfolio around a security product concept and earning a Certified Scrum Product Owner or CompTIA Security+ credential signals readiness to hiring managers looking for potential over tenure.
Where can I find and apply to security product manager jobs in Hawaii?
