Security Sales Engineer Jobs in Nebraska: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a security sales engineer in Nebraska?
Most security sales engineer roles in Nebraska require a bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or engineering combined with hands-on technical experience in networking or cybersecurity. Nebraska does not issue a state-specific license for this role, so employers rely on industry certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or vendor credentials from Cisco or Palo Alto. Building familiarity with Nebraska's regulated sectors, particularly financial services and healthcare, strengthens a candidate's profile considerably.
How much do security sales engineers make in Nebraska?
Security sales engineers in Nebraska earn a median of about $90,140 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $59,250 for the lowest 10% to over $131,030 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire security sales engineers in Nebraska?
Employers hiring security sales engineers in Nebraska right now include Metro One LPSG, HDR, and Google, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Nebraska's concentration of financial services headquarters, regional healthcare networks, and agribusiness technology firms creates consistent, year-round demand for security sales talent across the state.
Which Nebraska cities have the most security sales engineer jobs?
Omaha, Lincoln, and Papillion account for the most security sales engineer openings in Nebraska. Omaha drives the largest share of demand as the state's financial and corporate hub, home to major insurance, banking, and logistics headquarters, while Lincoln's state government agencies, university systems, and growing tech sector contribute consistent hiring activity that keeps smaller markets like Kearney relevant for regional enterprise accounts.
Are there remote security sales engineer jobs in Nebraska?
Yes, and more than most technical roles, because security sales engineering blends consultative selling with remote demonstrations and virtual proof-of-concept presentations. About 25% of security sales engineer openings tied to Nebraska are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how much of the pre-sales cycle has moved online. The portions most commonly performed remotely are discovery calls, platform walkthroughs, and proposal development, while on-site visits remain standard for enterprise account closings.
How can I get hired as a security sales engineer in Nebraska with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving from a technical support, systems administration, or inside sales role at a Nebraska technology or managed security services provider into a junior pre-sales position. Large Nebraska employers such as regional managed service providers and technology resellers in Omaha and Lincoln regularly hire associate sales engineers who hold CompTIA Security+ and have customer-facing experience. Building a portfolio of documented solution designs or earning a vendor sales certification from Cisco or Palo Alto accelerates the transition considerably.
