Business Development Manager Jobs in Nebraska: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a business development manager in Nebraska?
Business development managers in Nebraska are not required to hold a state-issued license, so the path runs through education and experience. Most employers expect a bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, or a related field, and several Nebraska universities including the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and Creighton University offer relevant programs. From there, candidates typically build several years in sales, account management, or a client-facing role before moving into a business development manager position.
Which companies hire business development managers in Nebraska?
Employers hiring business development managers in Nebraska right now include Ryder System, HDR, and Kiewit, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Nebraska's concentration of financial services firms, agricultural technology companies, and logistics headquarters in the Omaha and Lincoln metro areas makes it a consistent market for business development roles year-round.
Which Nebraska cities have the most business development manager jobs?
The cities with the most business development manager openings in Nebraska are Omaha, Lincoln, and Nebraska. Omaha drives the majority of listings due to its density of corporate headquarters in financial services, healthcare, and transportation, while Lincoln's state government presence and university ecosystem generate demand in technology and professional services, and smaller markets appear on the list when large regional employers like agricultural firms or insurance companies post roles tied to those areas.
Are there remote business development manager jobs in Nebraska?
Yes, and more than most fields. Business development work is largely relationship-driven and desk-based for research, outreach, and proposal writing, which makes it well suited to remote or hybrid arrangements. About 40% of business development manager openings tied to Nebraska are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting broader flexibility in the role. The portions most likely to stay remote are pipeline management, proposal development, and strategic planning, while in-person presence is still expected for key client meetings and team leadership.
How can I get hired as a business development manager in Nebraska with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a sales development representative or inside sales role at one of Nebraska's larger employers, where performance is tracked and promotion into business development is a documented progression. Companies like Sandhills Global and Mutual of Omaha have historically hired entry-level business-to-business sales associates and moved high performers into business development functions. A bachelor's degree from a Nebraska institution combined with a demonstrated record in account management or customer success strengthens a candidacy significantly, and earning a HubSpot or Salesforce administrator credential adds a concrete, verifiable skill that many Nebraska hiring managers treat as a differentiator at the entry level.
Where can I find and apply to business development manager jobs in Nebraska?
You can find and apply to business development manager jobs in Nebraska on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings posted by Nebraska employers.
