About The Position
We're looking for a Senior Brand Designer to own Parafin's visual identity across every surface: website, social media, blog, paid ads, video, events, and more. You'll be the creative force behind how Parafin looks and feels in the world. This role is about more than making things look good. You'll bring strategic thinking to brand consistency, help us scale our visual system, and collaborate across teams to produce high-quality work that reflects who we are and the mission we're on. If you love building brands from the inside out and want your work to support small businesses, you'll feel right at home here. This role sits on the design team and partners closely with marketing to bring the brand to life.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Own and evolve Parafin's visual identity, maintaining the brand system and building out templates and components. Maintain and scale a brand asset library and style guide so the whole company can stay on-brand.
- Concept and execute marketing campaigns across web, social, paid ads, email, blog, and video, from initial idea to final delivery.
- Design, build, and maintain website assets and pages, partnering with marketing and engineering to keep our web presence polished, modern, and up to date.
- Art-direct and produce video and motion content for social, ads, and web: hands-on or through vendors.
- Collaborate with the product design team to accurately represent and market our product, highlighting key features, maintaining visual consistency, and ensuring product visuals reflect the real experience we deliver.
- Create event and office materials such as posters, signage, swag, and internal communications.
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve how Parafin shows up in the market, finding gaps in the brand system and proposing how to fill them before being asked.
What We’re Looking For
- 6+ years of visual/brand design experience
- A versatile brand and graphic designer with a strong portfolio spanning digital and print. Comfortable working across mediums: web, social, print, environmental, and motion.
- Experience owning a visual identity end-to-end, from brand strategy and ideation to execution and rollout.
- Experience leading or contributing to a rebrand or brand refresh.
- Strong proficiency in Figma, Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign), and AI tools in your design workflow.
- Excellent typography, layout, and composition skills with a sharp eye for detail.
- Familiarity with web design principles and asset handoff for digital production.
- Autonomous enough to take a brief and run with it, and strong enough as a communicator to present and defend creative decisions to stakeholders.
We Prefer If You Have
- Experience working on brand design in fintech, B2B SaaS, or financial services.
- Motion design or animation skills (After Effects, Lottie, etc.).
- Photography or art direction experience.
What We Offer
- Salary Range: $180 - $220k
- Equity grant

Senior Brand Designer Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a senior brand designer in California?
Senior brand designer roles in California do not require a state-issued license or certification. The typical path begins with a degree in graphic design, visual communication, or a related field from a California institution such as ArtCenter College of Design, California College of the Arts, or a UC campus arts program. From there, candidates build a portfolio through agency, in-house, or freelance work and advance through mid-level roles until they can demonstrate ownership of full brand systems at scale.
How much do senior brand designers make in California?
Senior brand designers in California earn a median of about $75,130 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $46,190 for the lowest 10% to over $129,560 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire senior brand designers in California?
Employers hiring senior brand designers in California right now include Okta, 23andMe, and CRUSOE, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. California's concentration of technology headquarters, entertainment studios, and direct-to-consumer brands means in-house creative teams here tend to be larger and hire more senior brand designers than the national average.
Which California cities have the most senior brand designer jobs?
San Francisco, Dublin, and Los Angeles are the California cities with the most senior brand designer openings. Los Angeles leads because of its entertainment, fashion, and consumer brand headquarters, while San Francisco and the broader Bay Area are driven by technology companies that invest heavily in brand and design systems. San Diego's growing biotech and lifestyle brand sectors account for strong hiring in the south.
Are there remote senior brand designer jobs in California?
Yes, and more than most creative fields. About 50% of senior brand designer openings tied to California are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how much of the work happens in digital tools that travel well. The parts of the role most likely to stay remote are brand strategy, identity system development, and stakeholder presentations, while production reviews and campaign launches often pull teams on-site.
How can I get hired as a senior brand designer in California with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through junior or associate designer roles at California-based agencies or in-house studios, where structured mentorship is more common than at startups. Large California employers such as entertainment studios, technology companies, and consumer goods brands run internship and associate creative programs that feed into full-time offers. Building a portfolio through freelance projects for local small businesses or nonprofits, combined with proficiency in Figma and the Adobe suite, gives candidates without formal experience a concrete edge when applying to those entry-level openings.
Where can I find and apply to senior brand designer jobs in California?
You can find and apply to senior brand designer jobs in California on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from California employers. Search the listings by city or specialty, find roles that fit your experience and portfolio, and apply directly to the ones that match.
