Senior Consultant Jobs in Tennessee: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a senior consultant in Tennessee?
Most senior consultant roles in Tennessee require a bachelor's degree in business, management, finance, or a technical field, with several years of progressively responsible consulting or advisory experience. Unlike licensed professions, consulting has no state-issued license in Tennessee. Candidates who hold a Project Management Professional credential or a Certified Management Consultant designation stand out. Targeting firms with Tennessee offices in healthcare or technology accelerates advancement into senior-level roles.
How much do senior consultants make in Tennessee?
Senior consultants in Tennessee earn a median of about $99,260 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $63,280 for the lowest 10% to over $172,170 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire senior consultants in Tennessee?
Employers hiring senior consultants in Tennessee right now include Sargent & Lundy, Oracle, and Deloitte, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Tennessee's large healthcare systems and regional headquarters also generate steady demand outside the major national consulting firms.
Which Tennessee cities have the most senior consultant jobs?
Nashville, Knoxville, and Memphis have the most senior consultant openings in Tennessee. Nashville dominates due to its concentration of healthcare corporations, financial services firms, and the regional offices of major consulting practices, while Memphis and Knoxville contribute openings tied to logistics, manufacturing, and university-affiliated research institutions.
Are there remote senior consultant jobs in Tennessee?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 75% of senior consultant openings tied to Tennessee are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the desk-based and advisory nature of the work. Strategy, IT advisory, and organizational change management engagements are the most consistently remote, while operational consulting roles tied to facility assessments or on-site client implementations typically require in-person presence.
How can I get hired as a senior consultant in Tennessee with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is landing an analyst or associate consultant role and building toward senior level. Large Tennessee-based healthcare organizations and consulting firms with Nashville offices run structured associate programs for recent graduates. Moving laterally from project coordinator, business analyst, or operations specialist roles at Tennessee employers provides relevant experience. A relevant master's degree, PMP credential, or demonstrated data analysis portfolio strengthens applications considerably at this stage.
