Senior Devops Engineer Jobs in Louisiana: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a senior devops engineer in Louisiana?
Senior devops engineers in Louisiana typically hold a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field, though many employers accept equivalent experience. No state-issued license is required for the role. Employers in Louisiana's energy, healthcare, and government IT sectors prioritize candidates with industry-recognized credentials such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Certified Kubernetes Administrator, or HashiCorp Terraform Associate, alongside a proven history of managing production infrastructure.
How much do senior devops engineers make in Louisiana?
Senior devops engineers in Louisiana earn a median of about $102,800 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $66,350 for the lowest 10% to over $151,780 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire senior devops engineers in Louisiana?
Employers hiring senior devops engineers in Louisiana right now include CVS Health, Risksmith Insurance Services, and Koch, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Louisiana's energy sector, large healthcare networks, and state government IT contractors are among the most consistent sources of senior devops openings across the state.
Which Louisiana cities have the most senior devops engineer jobs?
New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and Louisiana are the Louisiana cities with the most senior devops engineer openings. New Orleans anchors the largest share of listings, driven by its concentration of healthcare systems, financial technology firms, and state agency IT departments, while Baton Rouge draws demand from energy companies and Louisiana State University-affiliated employers, and Shreveport contributes through healthcare networks and regional government contractors.
Are there remote senior devops engineer jobs in Louisiana?
Yes, and more than most technical fields. About 29% of senior devops engineer openings tied to Louisiana are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how much of the role centers on cloud platforms and configuration management rather than on-site hardware. Pipeline automation, monitoring, and infrastructure-as-code work are the functions most commonly performed fully remote by Louisiana-based teams.
How can I get hired as a senior devops engineer in Louisiana with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into devops from a systems administration, Linux engineering, or software development role, then building toward seniority over time. Large Louisiana employers like Ochsner Health and Entergy periodically bring on associate infrastructure or cloud support engineers who grow into devops functions. Earning a cloud practitioner credential such as AWS Cloud Practitioner or completing a hands-on Kubernetes or Terraform project portfolio gives candidates a concrete edge when applying to mid-level roles that feed senior positions.
Where can I find and apply to senior devops engineer jobs in Louisiana?
You can find and apply to senior devops engineer jobs in Louisiana on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Shreveport, and the rest of the state. Search the listings to find roles that match your experience level, infrastructure focus, and preferred work arrangement, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
