Senior IT Project Manager Jobs in Florida: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a senior it project manager in Florida?
The clearest path is earning a bachelor's degree in information technology or a related field, then building several years of hands-on project coordination experience before pursuing the PMP credential from the Project Management Institute, which Florida employers consistently treat as the gold standard for senior roles. Florida has no state-issued license specific to IT project managers, so the PMP combined with demonstrated enterprise delivery experience carries the most weight with hiring managers in Tampa, Miami, and Orlando.
How much do senior IT project managers make in Florida?
Senior IT project managers in Florida earn a median of about $98,070 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $59,070 for the lowest 10% to over $161,250 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire senior it project managers in Florida?
Employers hiring senior it project managers in Florida right now include Space Coast Credit Union, Entech, and Vacatia, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Florida's concentration of defense contractors, large hospital systems, and regional financial institutions means demand is spread across multiple industries rather than a single dominant sector.
Which Florida cities have the most senior it project manager jobs?
Miami, Miramar, and Bradenton lead Florida for senior it project manager openings, reflecting the density of large hospital networks, financial services firms, and defense contractors anchored in those metros, with smaller markets sometimes appearing because a major regional employer or state agency hub drives concentrated local demand beyond what the population size alone would suggest.
Are there remote senior it project manager jobs in Florida?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 83% of senior it project manager openings tied to Florida are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting that most of the planning, reporting, and stakeholder coordination work can be done from anywhere. Program phases requiring on-site vendor oversight or infrastructure rollouts are most likely to carry an in-office requirement.
How can I get hired as a senior it project manager in Florida with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point is a junior project coordinator or IT business analyst role, which large Florida employers like AdventHealth, Florida Blue, and Leidos routinely post as on-ramps for candidates without senior experience. Earning the CAPM credential from the Project Management Institute signals readiness before the PMP is within reach, and completing an Agile or Scrum certification alongside coursework strengthens applications considerably. Once inside a large organization, lateral movement from a business analyst or IT support lead role into project coordination is a well-traveled path to eventual senior standing.
Where can I find and apply to senior it project manager jobs in Florida?
You can find and apply to senior it project manager jobs in Florida on Migrate Mate, which lists current Florida openings updated regularly. Find a role that fits and apply directly from the listing.
