About the Role
Ever Ready Group is a large and rapidly growing consumer goods distributor. We're hiring for a new kind of Purchasing Agent — one who pairs strong purchasing fundamentals with fluency in AI coding tools like Claude Code, Cursor, or OpenAI Codex.
This is the same role as our standard Purchasing Agent — managing POs, supplier follow-ups, shortage claims, and inventory adjustments — but operating with a force multiplier. You will use AI agents to write scripts on the fly, query our internal databases, automate repetitive Excel work, build small tools as you need them, and turn a 4-hour task into a 20-minute one.
We pay more for this position because the right person produces 3-5× the output of a traditional purchasing agent. If you've already used Claude Code or Codex to ship real work — even personal projects — we want to talk to you.
Why This Position Is Different
- · You'll have direct access to our internal tools: a custom Master DB (FastAPI + PostgreSQL on Supabase) housing 405K+ items and 500K+ ASINs across hundreds of suppliers.
- · You'll write ad-hoc scripts daily — pulling data, transforming Excel files, drafting supplier emails, comparing quotes across vendors — using AI agents instead of doing it manually.
- · You'll build small internal automations as needed (with help from our internal AI tooling, not as a full developer role).
- · You'll work alongside engineering and have a voice in how AI gets used across purchasing operations.
- · Pay scales with what you can do — bring real AI/coding fluency to the table and the upper end of the range is realistic.
Core Purchasing Responsibilities
- · Review the semi-weekly Purchase Plan and send out Purchase Orders based on availability, pricing, and ETAs
- · Review QOH (Quantity on Hand) responses when applicable
- · Update Open POs Report with all header level details
- · File adjustments once invoice has been received and the Buyer verifies that nothing remaining on the PO will be shipped
- · Follow up on all invoiced orders for receiving reports — file shortage claims, adjustments, or returns as needed
- · Inform Accounts Payable about any changes needed before payment is sent
- · Review all Pending POs and firm the orders before the end-of-week report
- · Email the Purchasing Manager with a semi-weekly availability report for all orders placed
- · Follow through with all emails or issues that arise throughout the week
AI-Augmented Responsibilities
- · Use Claude Code, Codex, or similar agents to query our internal Master DB for cost comparisons, supplier history, and ASIN-level analysis
- · Write quick Python or SQL scripts (with AI assistance) to automate repetitive purchasing workflows
- · Build custom Excel transformations on the fly — column remapping, vendor file normalization, multi-sheet reconciliation
- · Identify pricing anomalies, supplier drift, or stocking gaps using data analysis rather than manual spot-checks
- · Document and share AI-driven workflows with the rest of the purchasing team so everyone benefits
Requirements
- · Demonstrated experience with Claude Code, Cursor, OpenAI Codex, or equivalent AI coding agents — please link to or describe a project
- · Comfort reading and writing Python and/or SQL with AI assistance (you don't need to be a software engineer, but you need to ship working code via AI)
- · Advanced Excel ability (VLOOKUP, SUMIF, complex formulas, pivot tables)
- · Strong technical aptitude and ability to learn quickly
- · Self-motivated, able to solve discrepancies with little direction
- · Genuine interest in supply chain and operations
- · Able to master large data sets and spot patterns
Nice to Have
- · Prior purchasing, procurement, or supply chain experience
- · Familiarity with Amazon Vendor Central, EDI, or distributor operations
- · Experience working with PostgreSQL or REST APIs
- · Background in finance, data analysis, or operations engineering
How to Apply
Please send a short message answering two questions:
1. Why do you think you'd be great for this job?
2. Show us one thing you've built or automated using Claude Code, Codex, or another AI coding agent — a personal script, a side project, anything real. A screenshot, GitHub repo, or short description is fine.
Experience: Excel — 3 years (preferred). AI coding tools — required.
Work Location: In person
Pay: $48,000.00 - $72,800.00 per year

Senior User Researcher Jobs in New Jersey: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a senior user researcher in New Jersey?
Senior user researcher roles in New Jersey do not require a state-issued license or certification, so the path runs through education and accumulated experience. Most employers expect a bachelor's degree at minimum, with many preferring a master's in human-computer interaction, cognitive psychology, or a related field. Candidates build toward the senior level by working in mid-level or associate research roles, ideally within New Jersey's pharmaceutical, financial services, or enterprise technology sectors, where product research teams are well established.
Which companies hire senior user researchers in New Jersey?
Companies currently hiring senior user researchers in New Jersey include 3M, Merck, and Verisk, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. New Jersey's concentration of pharmaceutical and financial services headquarters means demand runs consistently across both regulated industries and enterprise software teams operating from the state.
Which New Jersey cities have the most senior user researcher jobs?
New Jersey, Iselin, and Rahway account for the highest concentration of senior user researcher openings in New Jersey. Newark and Jersey City draw heavily from financial services and enterprise technology firms with offices near Manhattan, while Princeton benefits from its proximity to pharmaceutical and biotech campuses, including major research operations that maintain in-house UX and product research teams.

Yes, and more than most fields. About 20% of senior user researcher openings tied to New Jersey are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how well the core work of interviewing participants, synthesizing findings, and presenting insights translates to distributed teams. Generative and evaluative research phases are the most commonly performed remotely, while stakeholder workshops and lab-based usability testing more often require in-person presence.
How can I get hired as a senior user researcher in New Jersey with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a junior or associate UX researcher role at one of New Jersey's larger pharmaceutical or financial services employers, which regularly bring on early-career researchers through graduate recruitment programs tied to Rutgers University and NJIT. Roles such as UX designer, business analyst, or data analyst serve as lateral entry points where candidates can demonstrate research-adjacent skills. Building a portfolio of structured research projects, even from academic or freelance work, and earning a certificate in UX research gives candidates a meaningful edge in the state's competitive market.
