Service Advisor Jobs in Alaska: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a service advisor in Alaska?
Most service advisors in Alaska enter through automotive dealerships or equipment dealers, starting as service lane support staff or parts counter associates before moving into an advisor role. Alaska does not require a state-issued license to work as a service advisor. Employers typically look for a high school diploma, familiarity with vehicle systems, and customer service experience. Earning an ASE Service Consultant certification through the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence strengthens your candidacy with Alaska dealerships and fleet operators.
Which companies hire service advisors in Alaska?
Companies currently hiring service advisors in Alaska include Lithia & Driveway, Kendall Auto, and Team CC, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of November 2026. Alaska's dealership and heavy-equipment sectors drive most of the openings, particularly in Anchorage and Fairbanks where large franchise groups and industrial equipment suppliers maintain active service departments year-round.
Which Alaska cities have the most service advisor jobs?
Wasilla, Anchorage, and Fairbanks have the most service advisor openings in Alaska. Anchorage dominates due to its size and concentration of franchise dealerships, fleet operators, and marine service businesses, while Fairbanks and Juneau follow because of established dealership groups and heavy-equipment operations supporting the region's construction, mining, and government contracting sectors.
Are there remote service advisor jobs in Alaska?
Yes, but they're rare. Service advising is primarily an on-site role requiring direct customer interaction and coordination with technicians on the shop floor. About 0% of service advisor openings tied to Alaska are remote or hybrid as of November 2026, and those positions are almost always limited to the administrative or warranty-documentation portions of the role rather than the full advisor function.
How can I get hired as a service advisor in Alaska with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is starting in a parts counter or service lane greeter role at one of Alaska's franchise dealerships, then transitioning into advising after gaining product and process knowledge. Large Anchorage dealership groups regularly bring on entry-level service support staff with no prior automotive background. A valid Alaska driver's license, basic familiarity with vehicle types common in the state such as trucks and off-road equipment, and enrollment in an ASE Service Consultant study program all improve your standing with hiring managers.
Where can I find and apply to service advisor jobs in Alaska?
You can find and apply to service advisor jobs in Alaska on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings tied to the state. Search the roles available, find the ones that match your experience and location, and apply directly to the listings that fit.
