Application Support Analyst Jobs in Alaska: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a application support analyst in Alaska?
Most application support analyst roles in Alaska require a bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or a closely related field, though some employers accept an associate degree combined with relevant work experience. Alaska does not issue a state-specific license for this role. Employers in state government and healthcare often prefer candidates who hold vendor-neutral certifications such as CompTIA A+ or ITIL Foundation, which signal a working knowledge of service management practices valued across Alaska's public and private sectors.
Which companies hire application support analysts in Alaska?
Companies currently hiring application support analysts in Alaska include Goldbelt, CVS Health, and Baker Hughes, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Alaska's mix of large state government agencies, regional healthcare networks, and natural resource companies means openings appear across a broader range of industries than in most states.
Which Alaska cities have the most application support analyst jobs?
Juneau, Alaska, and Anchorage are the Alaska cities with the most application support analyst openings. Anchorage dominates because it hosts the state's largest hospital systems, corporate headquarters for energy companies, and the majority of state agency offices, while Fairbanks and Juneau generate openings through the University of Alaska system, regional government operations, and public utilities that depend on maintained enterprise software.
Are there remote application support analyst jobs in Alaska?
Yes, and more than many roles, because application support work is largely desk-based and conducted over remote-access tools. About 50% of application support analyst openings tied to Alaska are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how much of the work can be performed without being physically present at a client site. Tier-one end-user support and routine application monitoring are the functions most commonly offered on a remote or hybrid basis.
How can I get hired as a application support analyst in Alaska with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a help desk or IT support technician role, which large Alaska employers such as state agencies, Providence Alaska Medical Center, and the University of Alaska system regularly post as junior positions open to candidates with an associate degree or a CompTIA A+ certification. From that starting point, analysts typically move into application support by taking on ERP or EHR ticketing work. Building familiarity with a specific platform, such as the systems used by Alaska's state government or regional hospital networks, gives candidates a concrete edge when applying to analyst openings.
Where can I find and apply to application support analyst jobs in Alaska?
