Service Advisor Jobs in Montana: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a service advisor in Montana?
Montana does not require a state-issued license specifically for service advisors, so the path runs through employer hiring and industry credentials. Most Montana dealerships expect candidates to hold or pursue ASE Service Consultant certification, which involves a written exam and documented work experience. A high school diploma or GED is the baseline education requirement, though an associate degree in automotive technology or business gives candidates a clear edge with larger franchise dealers in Billings or Missoula.
Which companies hire service advisors in Montana?
Employers hiring service advisors in Montana right now include Bishs RV, Jiffy Lube, and Sam's Club, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Montana's concentration of franchise auto groups, RV dealers, and heavy equipment distributors supporting agriculture and energy operations keeps demand for service advisors consistent across the state.
Which Montana cities have the most service advisor jobs?
Butte, Helena, and Great Falls have the most service advisor openings in Montana. Billings anchors the market as the state's largest city, home to a dense cluster of franchise dealerships and commercial truck centers, while Missoula and Great Falls support strong regional volumes driven by their own auto groups and the equipment dealers serving surrounding agricultural communities.
Are there remote service advisor jobs in Montana?
Yes, but they're rare. About 0% of service advisor openings tied to Montana are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how hands-on the role fundamentally is. The functions most suited to remote or hybrid arrangements are warranty claims administration and customer follow-up coordination, rather than the front-counter advising and vehicle walkaround work that makes up the core of most positions.
How can I get hired as a service advisor in Montana with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is starting as a service porter, lot attendant, or parts counter associate at a Montana dealership and transitioning internally once you know the shop's workflow. Larger Billings and Missoula franchise groups often move motivated employees from parts or reception into a junior service writer role when a need arises. Pursuing ASE Service Consultant certification while in an entry-level role signals seriousness to hiring managers and accelerates that transition considerably.
Where can I find and apply to service advisor jobs in Montana?
You can find and apply to service advisor jobs in Montana on Migrate Mate, which lists current Montana openings updated regularly. Search the listings to find roles that match your experience level, preferred location within the state, and the type of dealership or equipment operation you want to work in, then apply directly to the positions that fit.
