As a Field Service Technician – Water & Wastewater Automation, you'll work hands-on with PLCs, SCADA systems, instrumentation, VFDs, and electrical controls at municipal water and wastewater facilities throughout North and South Carolina.

E.W.P. Group is seeking an experienced, technically skilled Field Service Technician based in the Fort Mill / Charlotte metro area to support customers throughout the Carolinas. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving technical problems in the field, working directly with customers, and having the independence to get the job done while being supported by an experienced engineering and project management team.

What You'll Do

• Install, start up, and commission electrical control panels and automation systems
• Troubleshoot PLC, HMI, SCADA, instrumentation, and communication systems
• Diagnose electrical and control-system issues using schematics, wiring diagrams, and test equipment
• Perform preventive maintenance and respond to customer service needs
• Configure, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain field instrumentation, including:

o Flow meters
o Level transmitters
o Pressure transmitters
o Analytical instruments
o Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)

• Document service activities and prepare detailed field service reports
• Train customers in equipment operation and basic troubleshooting
• Maintain a safe work environment and follow applicable company and customer safety procedures
• Communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, contractors, and customers
• Represent E.W.P. Group professionally while working independently at customer sites

What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications

• Associate degree in Electrical Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, or a related technical field, or equivalent relevant experience
• 3+ years of field service, industrial electrical, controls, instrumentation, or automation experience
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and P&IDs
• Working knowledge of:

o PLC systems such as Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Schneider, or similar platforms
o HMI and SCADA systems
o Industrial Ethernet and communication protocols
o Motor controls and VFDs

• Strong electrical and controls troubleshooting skills
• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
• Ability to work independently in the field while coordinating effectively with engineering and project teams
• Strong customer-service and communication skills
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
• Ability and willingness to travel extensively throughout North and South Carolina, including overnight travel

Preferred Qualifications

• ISA Certified Control Systems Technician (CCST) Level I certification
• Experience in municipal water or wastewater treatment facilities
• Experience with instrumentation calibration, troubleshooting, and repair
• Familiarity with Rockwell Automation products
• Experience with Ignition, FactoryTalk View, Wonderware, or VT Scada
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
• NFPA 70E training

Travel & Territory
This position is based in the Fort Mill / Charlotte metro area and supports customer and project sites primarily throughout North and South Carolina.
Travel is a significant part of this position and generally occurs Monday through Friday. Overnight travel is expected based on customer and project needs, with weekends generally spent at home unless supporting emergency customer needs. Occasional travel outside the Carolinas may be required.

• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Ability to climb ladders and walk on uneven terrain
• Ability to safely work within industrial and municipal facilities
• Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and work in mechanical spaces as required
