Service Tech Jobs in Louisiana: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a service tech in Louisiana?
Most service techs in Louisiana enter through a technical or vocational program at a community or technical college, such as those offered through the Louisiana Community and Technical College System. From there, the path depends on the specialty: HVAC techs need EPA 608 certification, electrical techs may pursue a Louisiana electrical journeyman license through the Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors, and automotive techs often work toward ASE certification before applying to dealerships or fleet operators.
Which companies hire service techs in Louisiana?
Louisiana service tech roles are posted by Waukesha Pearce Industries, IQVIA, and Vallen and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Large industrial contractors, healthcare systems, and utility companies along the Mississippi River corridor are among the most consistent hirers in the state.
Which Louisiana cities have the most service tech jobs?
Baton Rouge, New Orleans, and Ruston have the most service tech openings in Louisiana right now. Baton Rouge leads because of its dense concentration of petrochemical plants and large hospital systems, while New Orleans draws demand from hospitality facilities, maritime operations, and healthcare, and Shreveport's manufacturing and healthcare sectors anchor northern Louisiana hiring.
Are there remote service tech jobs in Louisiana?
Yes, but they're rare. Service tech work is largely hands-on and site-dependent, so most roles require a physical presence. About 0% of service tech openings tied to Louisiana are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, which is low compared to desk-based fields. The roles most likely to include remote components are those with administrative, scheduling, or technical support responsibilities alongside fieldwork.
How can I get hired as a service tech in Louisiana with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a paid apprenticeship or entry-level helper role with an industrial contractor or utility company. Large Louisiana employers like Turner Industries and Bernhard run structured entry programs that train technicians on the job. Completing a certificate program through the Louisiana Community and Technical College System and holding any relevant certification, even a basic OSHA 10 card, gives candidates a meaningful edge when applying to these programs or to service assistant roles at healthcare systems and HVAC companies.
Where can I find and apply to service tech jobs in Louisiana?
You can find and apply to service tech jobs in Louisiana on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the listings, find the roles that match your experience and location, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
