Scope of Position:
The Shipping and Receiving Clerk coordinates shipping and receiving administration, material handling, and daily department workflow. The Clerk maintains accurate records, communicates with carriers and internal departments, and helps ensure materials and finished goods move safely, accurately, and on schedule.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate daily shipping and receiving priorities, dock schedules, pickups, deliveries, and workflow with operations leadership.
- Serve as a point of contact for carriers, drivers, customer service, production, inventory, and other internal departments regarding shipment status and issues
- Prepare and process bills of lading, packing lists, labels, delivery receipts, and other shipping and receiving documents
- Enter and maintain accurate shipment, receipt, inventory, weight, count, and tracking information in the ERP or other company systems
- Verify incoming and outgoing materials against applicable documents and report or help resolved shortages, overages, damage, and other discrepancies
- Label, package, wrap, band, count, stage, and secure materials for shipment or internal movement
- Load and upload trucks and move materials, work in process, supplies, and finished material using forklifts and pallet jacks
- Maintain organized docks, staging and storage areas, inspect trailers and shipments for damage, cleanliness, load security, and compliance
- Follow all safety procedures, support inventory accuracy and audits, provide department coverage as needed, and perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior experience in shipping, receiving, warehousing, logistics, or material handling experience
- Ability to accurately complete shipping documents, enter data, and perform basic calculations involving quantities, weights, and counts
- Basic computer skills, including email and Microsoft Office applications
- Strong attention to detail, organization, communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively with internal and external contacts
- Ability to work overtime or adjusted hours as business needs require
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, handle and move materials, operate approved equipment, and work safely in warehouse, dock, and production areas
Preferred
- Three to five years of shipping, receiving, warehouse, or logistics experience
- Forklift and riding pallet-jack experience or certification; training may be provided
- Experience coordinating the daily work of others or serving as a lead employee
- Experience using ERP, warehouse management, inventory, or shipping system
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Experience preparing bills of lading and coordinating freight, parcel, and local deliveries
