Shipping and Receiving Clerk Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a shipping and receiving clerk in New York?
Most shipping and receiving clerk positions in New York require a high school diploma or GED and no state-issued license. Employers typically provide on-the-job training in inventory systems, receiving procedures, and warehouse safety. A forklift operator certification, earned through a third-party training provider or an employer-sponsored course, gives candidates a clear hiring advantage in New York's competitive distribution and logistics market.
Which companies hire shipping and receiving clerks in New York?
New York shipping and receiving clerk roles are posted by onsemi, IEWC, and Akima and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. New York's dense retail, food distribution, and manufacturing sectors mean openings appear regularly across the state, not just in the New York City metro.
Which New York cities have the most shipping and receiving clerk jobs?
Rochester, Hopewell Junction, and Roslyn lead for shipping and receiving clerk openings in New York. New York City dominates because of its massive retail distribution infrastructure and port activity, while Buffalo's manufacturing base and Albany's regional distribution centers drive consistent demand outside the metro.
Are there remote shipping and receiving clerk jobs in New York?
Yes, but they're rare. Shipping and receiving clerk work is inherently hands-on, requiring physical presence to process inbound and outbound freight, verify shipments, and operate warehouse equipment. About 0% of shipping and receiving clerk openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those positions typically involve inventory coordination or purchasing support rather than floor-level receiving duties.
How can I get hired as a shipping and receiving clerk in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying directly to warehouse associate or stock room clerk roles at large New York employers like Amazon fulfillment centers, Sysco distribution hubs, or major grocery chains such as Stop and Shop. These employers regularly hire with no prior experience and train on-site. Completing a forklift certification course through a New York community college or a workforce development program before applying gives candidates a concrete advantage over other entry-level applicants.
Where can I find and apply to shipping and receiving clerk jobs in New York?
You can find and apply to shipping and receiving clerk jobs in New York on Migrate Mate, which lists current New York openings from employers actively hiring right now.
