Byrdie is looking for a passionate and creative addition to our social media team! This role touches every part of Byrdie’s social presence—from creating, hosting, shooting, and editing video to community management, daily meetings and publishing, brainstorming captions, and developing and launching new social series. The ideal candidate lives and breathes the internet, with a strong pulse on pop culture and entertainment, beauty and fashion, emerging creators, trends, and the conversations shaping our feeds. They’re excited to experiment with new formats, jump on the right cultural moments, engage directly with our community, and turn ideas into content quickly. This role is for someone who is excited about the direction the social media space is headed, and is eager to grow alongside the brand. Above all, they understand Byrdie’s voice and POV and are enthusiastic about helping evolve how the brand shows up, connects, and creates across platforms.
About The Position | Job Responsibilities:
Pitch daily social-first news and content ideas, translating timely news into social posts or hosted social videos.
Create original content (Reels, TikTok, etc.), including video editing and on-camera hosting.
Monitor community engagement, responding to comments and questions across platforms.
Write social copy that reflects brand voice and follows brand writing guidelines.
Remain curious and conduct daily research on beauty/fashion social trends and broader platform trends.
Brainstorm regularly to help develop new social franchises and series that align with Byrdie’s social POV.
Cover live events (e.g., awards shows) alongside the Byrdie editorial team.
Serve as an extension of the brand's social presence and on-camera identity.
Pull weekly social insights alongside the Byrdie social team.
Hybrid 3x a week | (New York City)
This position is hybrid in-office, with the ability to work remotely for up to 2 days per week.

The Role’s Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
Experience:
1-3 years of digital and/or social media experience, preferably at a brand, a news organization, and/or a content studio.
Specific Knowledge, Skills, Certifications and Abilities:
Familiarity with major social platforms (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Pinterest, X)
Social video editing (CapCut, Adobe Premiere, or other editing tools)
On-camera hosting
Adobe Photoshop
Google Slides/Docs
Social scheduling Tools

Pay Range
Salary: New York: $70,000.00The pay range above represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position and may change in the future. Actual pay may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to work location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of People Inc's total compensation package for employees. Other compensation may include annual bonuses, and short- and long-term incentives.
