Description
Arrowhead Pharmaceuticals is seeking experienced, high-performing, and driven Specialty Sales Representatives to join our expanding commercial organization. This is a unique opportunity to play a meaningful role in the launch and growth of our cardiometabolic portfolio, including Plozasiran (siRNA targeting APOC3), developed for patients with rare and high-need cardiovascular conditions such as Familial Chylomicronemia Syndrome (FCS) and Severe Hypertriglyceridemia (SHTG).
This role is critical to delivering launch excellence by driving prescriber activation, accelerating therapy adoption, and ensuring sustained utilization within complex healthcare environments. The Specialty Sales Representative will operate with strategic agility, strong clinical acumen, and disciplined execution to positively impact patient outcomes.
About Arrowhead Pharmaceuticals:
Arrowhead Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Nasdaq: ARWR) is a clinical stage biopharmaceutical company that develops medicines that treat intractable diseases by silencing the genes that cause them. Using a broad portfolio of RNA chemistries and efficient modes of delivery, Arrowhead therapies trigger the RNA interference mechanism to induce rapid, deep, and durable knockdown of target genes. RNA interference, or RNAi, is a mechanism present in living cells that inhibits the expression of a specific gene, thereby affecting the production of a specific protein. Arrowhead’s RNAi-based therapeutics leverage this natural pathway of gene silencing.
Arrowhead is focused on developing innovative drugs for diseases with a genetic basis, typically characterized by the overproduction of one or more proteins that are involved with disease. The depth and versatility of our RNAi technologies enables us to potentially address conditions in virtually any therapeutic area and pursue disease targets that are not otherwise addressable by small molecules and biologics. Arrowhead is leading the field in bringing the promise of RNAi to address diseases outside of the liver, and our clinical pipeline includes disease targets in the liver and lung with a promising pipeline of preclinical candidates.
Arrowhead’s corporate headquarters is in Pasadena, CA with research and development teams in Madison, WI and San Diego, CA. Our employees are nimble, science-driven innovators who are collaborating to bring new therapies to patients in need.

Specialty Sales Representative Jobs in Illinois: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a specialty sales representative in Illinois?
Most employers in Illinois require a bachelor's degree, commonly in business, life sciences, or a related field depending on the specialty. Pharmaceutical and medical device roles may require familiarity with clinical terminology and sometimes expect candidates to complete manufacturer-led product certification before starting. Illinois does not issue a general specialty sales license, but roles in certain areas like insurance-based specialty sales require an Illinois Department of Insurance producer license. Building a track of successful sales experience in an adjacent role is the most common stepping stone.
How much do specialty sales representatives make in Illinois?
Specialty sales representatives in Illinois earn a median of about $73,510 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $44,130 for the lowest 10% to over $134,030 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire specialty sales representatives in Illinois?
Employers hiring specialty sales representatives in Illinois right now include Taylor Strategy Partners, サイネオス・ヘルス, and Linde, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Illinois's concentration of pharmaceutical headquarters, medical device companies, and large industrial manufacturers in the Chicago metro and along the I-88 corridor makes it one of the more active states for specialty sales hiring year-round.
Which Illinois cities have the most specialty sales representative jobs?
Joliet, Chicago, and Aurora have the most specialty sales representative openings in Illinois. Chicago dominates because of its density of corporate headquarters, hospital systems, and distribution networks, while Downers Grove and Peoria reflect the presence of major pharmaceutical and industrial employers like Baxter and Caterpillar that anchor suburban and downstate specialty sales territories.
Are there remote specialty sales representative jobs in Illinois?
Yes, but they are less common than in purely desk-based fields, since most specialty sales roles involve in-person visits to clients, clinics, or facilities. About 50% of specialty sales representative openings tied to Illinois are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with flexibility most often found in inside sales, account management, or sales support roles rather than traditional field territory positions.
How can I get hired as a specialty sales representative in Illinois with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is starting as a sales development representative or territory associate with a larger Illinois-based company that runs structured onboarding programs, such as the pharmaceutical or medical device firms headquartered in the Chicago and North Shore suburbs. Adjacent roles like clinical liaison, lab sales coordinator, or retail pharmaceutical technician give candidates relevant exposure. Completing a manufacturer product certification, earning an Illinois Department of Insurance producer license for insurance-adjacent specialties, or building a documented portfolio of sales performance in any B2B setting gives applicants a clear edge.
Where can I find and apply to specialty sales representative jobs in Illinois?
You can find and apply to specialty sales representative jobs in Illinois on Migrate Mate, which lists current Illinois openings across pharmaceutical, medical device, industrial, and technology specialty sales categories. Find roles that fit your experience and territory preference and apply directly to each employer through the listing.
