Tax Expert Jobs in Arizona: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a tax expert in Arizona?
The most direct path in Arizona is earning a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance and then obtaining a Certified Public Accountant license through the Arizona State Board of Accountancy, which requires passing the Uniform CPA Exam and meeting Arizona's education and experience hours. Enrolled Agent status, issued by the IRS, is a strong alternative credential accepted by many Arizona employers and requires no state-level application beyond the federal exam.
How much do tax experts make in Arizona?
Tax experts in Arizona earn a median of about $44,770 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $36,970 for the lowest 10% to over $104,740 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire tax experts in Arizona?
Employers hiring tax experts in Arizona right now include Intuit, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Arizona's concentration of Fortune 500 regional headquarters and large public accounting firms means steady year-round openings, not just seasonal spikes.
Which Arizona cities have the most tax expert jobs?
Phoenix, Avondale, and Surprise account for the largest share of tax expert openings in Arizona. Phoenix dominates because it is home to the state's highest concentration of corporate headquarters, major accounting firms, and financial services companies, while Scottsdale adds a strong base of wealth management and private equity clients, and Tucson contributes through its regional healthcare systems and university-affiliated employers.
Are there remote tax expert jobs in Arizona?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 0% of tax expert openings tied to Arizona are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the largely desk-based and document-driven nature of tax work. Tax compliance, tax research, and ASC 740 provision roles are the sub-areas most frequently posted as fully remote by Arizona-based employers.
How can I get hired as a tax expert in Arizona with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point is applying to staff tax associate or tax intern roles at Phoenix-area public accounting firms, several of which run structured new-graduate programs that rotate through individual, corporate, and partnership returns. Large Arizona employers like Honeywell and Banner Health also hire entry-level tax analysts willing to cross-train from adjacent roles such as accounts payable, general ledger accounting, or financial analyst positions. Passing even Part I of the Enrolled Agent exam before applying gives candidates a measurable credential edge over other entry-level applicants.
Where can I find and apply to tax expert jobs in Arizona?
You can find and apply to tax expert jobs in Arizona on Migrate Mate, which lists current Arizona openings across public accounting, corporate tax, and government roles. Find the roles that fit your experience and apply directly from the listings on this page.
